Dear Colleague !
The International Congress on Organic Chemistry dedicated to the outstanding Russian chemist Alexander Butlerov
(the Butlerov’s Congress), organized by Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation, Russian Academy of
Sciences (RAS), the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, Kazan Scientific
Center, A.E.Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan,
D.I.Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society will be held on September 18-23, 2011 on the basis of Kazan (Volga region)
Federal University in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation.
The congress is organized under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan
Rustam Minnikhanov.
Alexander Butlerov, professor and rector of Kazan Unuversity, is one of the founders of the modern theory of the
chemical structure of organic compounds. On the 19th of September, 1861 A. Butlerov delivered his report “On Chemical
Structure of Substances” at the Congress of German Physicians and Naturalists in Speier (Germany), in which he
developed new concepts of the structure of organic compounds. The Butlerov’s Congress is devoted to the 150th
anniversary of this remarkable event.
The Butlerov’s Congress is planned as a world-wide forum for presentation of major advances in all fields of organic
chemistry. We look forward to accepting about 500 scientists from all over the world, both distinguished chemists and
young researchers, and hope that many scientists of international repute will present their most recent findings.
