Middle Ages Internet Project
This project is meant to familiarize you with specific aspects of medieval life.
Please choose two of the following options and complete them by November 12, 2008.
Be aware that spelling and grammar count. This assignment is worth 40 points in the written work
category (i.e. very important!). Spelling and grammar errors will reduce your grade by ½ point each.
Remember: ALL WRITTEN WORK MUST BE TYPED.
1. Code of Chivalry
Go to: http://www.historylink101.com/midieval.htm
- Click on “Middle Ages Daily Life.”
- Scroll to the “Knights and Armor” section and click on “Rules of Chivalry.”
- Read through the first two lists, which are rules of chivalry.
- Now create your own “Code of Chivalry for the 21st Century.” You may adopt some rules from these
lists, but make sure that they apply to today. Your code must have ten rules.
2. Coat of Arms
Go to: http://www.digiserve.com/heraldry/
- Read the introduction section on the main page.
- Next, scroll down to “Heraldic Symbolism” on the left-hand side and click on it. Read through the list
of colors and symbols and their meanings.
- Now create your own coat of arms for your immediate family. Use the colors and symbols
referenced on the “Heraldic Symbolism” page. If you want to look at some clip art on this web
page you may do so, but your coat of arms must be hand-drawn.
- On the back of your coat of arms you should write a short explanation about why you chose the
symbols and colors that you used.
3. Castle Short Story
Go to: http://www.historylink101.com/midieval.htm
- Click on “Middle Ages Daily Life.”
- Scroll down to the section called “Castles.”
- Click on “Castles of the World,” and then “Castles for Sale,” then scroll down to the yellow and
orange and black writing, and click on “Castles for Sale.”
- Look at all of the castles available and choose your favorite. Now create a new document which
shows a picture of the castle, its location and price, and below that write a short (2-3 paragraph)
story about an event that “occurred” in your castle.
Have fun and be
creative!
