Gallery Rules and Regulations
These guidelines are meant to serve the artist in the best possible way. These
guidelines were created in an attempt to help the artist create a gallery that is tasteful
and appealing to a wide audience. We want this experience to be a fruitful and
enjoyable one for the artist, so we have created these rules in order to make it the best
possible experience. Please feel free to share any concerns or questions you have with
Clori or Matt.
1. Artist must use standard picture hook and nail for hanging frames. Picture hook
and nail should not exceed the 50-pound weight size.
2. Artist must use a uniform colored frame with white mattes. We suggest black or
a dark brown. Also, pictures should be matted with a white or ivory matte. We
suggest this to create a uniform gallery feel, and it leads to higher sales for the
artist.
3. Frames can be no larger than 11 x 14.
4. Art can only be hung on the one, red gallery wall that spans the length of the
back hallway. Artist cannot remove other artwork in the restaurant. Artist can
reserve one piece of art for the front of the house to tell customers where the
gallery is.
5. Artist should also frame a typed bio and explanation of the gallery theme. This
should be hung at the beginning of the gallery wall to educate customers. This
framed information can also include email, facebook, flicker, twitter, and other
social networking information.
6. Artist cannot bring in furniture for the hallway – this is a fire hazard and against
health code.
7. Artist is free to price art. Prices should be displayed on cards that have a blank
back for the purposes of record keeping. These cards should be tucked into the
frame. Business size cards or smaller are fine. There should be enough room to
write the purchaser’s name and phone number. In the event that a piece is sold
after the gallery opening, this is pertinent for the Mia’s staff to help the artist
maintain a connection to the purchaser.
8. Mia’s highly suggests that the artist accept only cash, but you can feel free to
take checks. Just let us know your preference. Mia’s will not take credit cards or
debit cards for the art. All artwork will be sold separately from the Mia’s register.
Artist may email Mia’s to check and see if any art has been sold during the
gallery time, and the artist is free to pick up any funds. We will keep all funds
safe for the artist until any unsold art is retrieved.
9. All art must hang on the walls during the specified amount of time before the art
can be removed and given to the purchaser.
10. Artist can feel free to leave their business cards near the register.
11. The artist is in charge of hanging the art before the gallery opening. Please
contact Clori to find out best times to come. The artist is welcome to hang before
the gallery opening and is encouraged to do so a few days before.
12. Mia’s will provide the artist with promotional postcards and will promote the event
via facebook, twitter, Mia’s website, local calendars, and press releases to the
local media. The artist should be prepared to be interviewed about his/her work
and should provide Clori with acceptable contact information for reporters.
13. Mia’s asks that you keep in mind that the restaurant is a family friendly business.
We do reserve the right to remove a piece from the gallery if we feel it may
offend for any reason.
