This book is dedicated to my mother, Nola Marie Anderson, who is the
last living child of Montgomery Anderson and Flora Belle Young.
My mom has always been my rock throughout my life. I really don’t know what I
would have done without her. Thanks just isn’t enough to express my gratitude to
you mom, but there are not any other words that will suffice either, so thanks Mom
for everthing, I love you!
I would also like to express my gratitude to my special cousin that has come into my
life and who without her support and help this book would never have been
possible. Audrey Monhollen Ealy, a cousin I never knew until a few years ago has
been a gem with all her help and trust. Thank-You Audrey.
I have another cousin that I found recently who has helped me so much while
researching our family lines. Mary Creekmore thanks so much for being there
when I needed help.
God must also be recognized in this dedication for without the good Lord to guide
me this book would never have been written at all.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
My name is Della Marie Perez. My parents were/are Roy Sizemore and Nola
Marie Anderson. So of course my maiden name is Sizemore (hee hee). My father died
on Dec. 12, 1976 Sunday at 5:03 in Newport, Ky. He is buried at the Sizemore Cemetery
on Red Bird in Clay Co. Ky. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio at Bethesda Hospital on
April 18, 1960, the oldest child of my family. This is sort of a pride for me as I was born
on a special day in my opinion. On this day back in 1898 my grandmother, Flora Belle
Young was also born. That is only one of the two reasons this day is special for me. The
second one is that on this day in the year of 1776 Paul Revere made his famous ride
through the countryside yelling, “the British are coming, the British are coming.” This
was the beginning of freedom and of the United States of America as a free country!
As you can tell from that little tidbit I am an avid historian. History is my passion
not my hobby. To me it was always a fascinating subject. Though you might not believe
it considering I know the date of Paul Revere’s famous ride, the only thing I hated about
history was trying to remember the important dates (he he he). This was because I was
never any good at remembering them.
Genealogy was a long time coming into my life or focus. One day I, like most
people asked a question and wanted the answer that no one could give me. So started my
search into the lives of the dead and my ancestors. It has been a most enjoyable journey
for me and one that will last until I die most likely. The more I learn, the more I need to
learn. That is the addiction of genealogy.
Well just a little more about me and we can go on and enjoy this book. I have
been married and divorced twice. The products of my first short marriage of 3 years
were 2 great kids and 8 terrific grandchildren, one of which resides on Jesus’ knees. Kyle
Franklin Williamson was stillborn on April 23, 1999. This was about the time I became
interested in genealogy. My second marriage produced no children though it lasted ten
years. Currently I live in McCreary County, Ky.
Now I would like to say that I hope each and every reader enjoys this book as
much as I enjoyed researching for it.

Section 1
The numbers beside each name represent what generation that person is in, starting
with our first recordable ancestor who will be numbered one.
1. Robert Anderson born abt. 1750-1760
This Robert shows up first in Whitley County in the 1830 census. We don’t
know his wife’s name or how many children they had or where they were born
as of yet. Neither do we know where they were before this census. I have
determined that this is our first ancestor in Whitley County simply by the
process of elimination using the census and DNA testing. I believe he and his
Wife died before 1840. What we do know is that our earliest ancestor that I
have documentation for is Robert Anderson married 1831 in his early 20’s. So I
used that information to determine that our Robert Anderson is the son of this
Robert Anderson born abt. 1750-1760.

This is my process of elimination and for some it may not be proof while for
others it will be proof enough. For me it is proof until I can prove otherwise.
Since our ancestor Robert Anderson married in Oct. of 1831 in Whitley Co. it is
to be presumed that he was living there at the time as very few people would
have traveled all the way to Whitley County just to marry. Looking at the
earliest census before he married, which is just the year before in 1830, you will
find these Andersons listed as head of household in that year: Peggy, William,
Daniel, Robert, and Matthew or Nathan it is really hard to tell which name it
actually is but I tend to think it is Matthew.
Peggy is listed in her own household and living by herself age 15-20. She sure
could not have had a son old enough to marry when no kids are in her household
at all lol. So that eliminates Peggy.
William is listed in 1830 as 50-60 which would certainly make him old enough to
have a son the age of our Robert. William’s household this year consists of 1
female under 5, one male and two females 5-10, one female 10-15, two females
15-20, one female 20-30, and one female 30-40. This eliminates William as our
Robert’s father unless our Robert is listed by mistake as female which could
happen but isn’t likely.
Matthew or Nathan is listed in 1830 as 20-30 which would eliminate him because
his age is about the same as our Robert’s. He has a female 20-30, two females
and one male 0-5. No child old enough to have been our Robert.
This all brings us to the last two possibilities: Robert and Daniel Anderson. Just
checking the census Daniel is a possible choice. He is listed as 40-50 so the age is
okay. He has a wife listed as 40-50 too. He has two males 0-5, two males and a
female 5-10, two females 10-15, one male and two females 15-20, and one male
20-30. This makes Daniel an excellent possibility and he was my first choice to
be Robert’s father. Alas this wasn’t to be though. I found out in later census
that Daniel does indeed have a son the right age category and named Robert.
This Robert was not our Robert though. He married someone entirely different
than the Keziah Sneed that our Robert married. Not only that but the DNA
testing was against us here too. Daniel is definitely not our Robert’s father.
Now this all leaves me with only one choice left and it is a logical choice. The
older Robert Anderson listed in 1830 is between the age of 70-80 with a female
age 60-70 and a male (our Robert) 20-30. Our Robert was about 23-25 this year.
So I determined from all of this that the older Robert Anderson is either the
father of our Robert or his grandfather and it is likely he is his father. So in this
book for future reference and to tell the two Roberts apart. The first and older
Robert will be referred to as Robert 1 and the second Robert who married
Keziah Sneed will be referred to as Robert II.

2. Robert Anderson II (Robert 1) born abt. 1805-1807
Robert married Keziah (Kizzy, Kissy,) Sneed born abt. 1811, d/o of Charles
Sneed. They were married on Oct. 31, 1831 in Whitley County, Ky. According
to the marriage book there but no marriage bond or certificate were found, it
is missing from the books. When I asked a clerk at the courthouse about this fact
she said someone probably took the license some years back. After Robert and
Keziah married they disappeared from the Whitley county census and don’t
show up again until 1860 with two sons, and it is possible that the census takers
just missed them in 1840 and 1850 census. Then they are gone again by 1870. I
just don’t know if they died or just moved. I don’t really believe that they died
because their son Marshall comes back to the county at a later date, and Henry
stayed and married. I also believe that Robert has other children than the two
sons listed in this book but I have not been able to find his family in the census
years of 1840-1850-1870 and beyond, as of the printing of this book. It is
unknown where or when Robert and Keziah died.

3. Henry H. Anderson (Robert II, Robert I) born May 6, 1842-1844.
Henry married Rebecca Hollen (Monhollen) born Jan. 1843. They were married
on Feb. 9, 1865 in Whitley Co. Ky. Henry died July 1886 according to the
government pension office. Rebecca drew a pension from Henry’s service in the
civil war where he served in the Union Army in Company H. 49th Ky Infantry as
a private. He served from Aug. 15, 1863 to Dec. 26, 1864. Rebecca died Sept. 2,
1912 also in Whitley County, Ky. Henry is buried at the Mulberry Cemetery or
what is also known as the Anderson Cemetery across from the Mulberry
Church. It is believed that Rebecca is buried near or beside Henry but no
marker is there to prove this. Rebecca’s last name on her marriage license is
very confusing as you will see. We do believe she is the daugher of John and
Elizabeth Monhollen nevertheless. Family legend says that Henry went off and
had an accident out of town. He later died as a result of this accident.

Married Manila Mowery daughter of Johnathon Mowery and Nancy Hamblin.
Granddaughter of Daniel Hamblin/Barbara Monhollen. She was born abt. 1868.
Calvin and Manila were married on Feb. 6, 1885 in Campbell Co. TN. Calvin
went by the names Coly and Cally also. Manila’s name is pronounced with the I
sounding like a long I. It is unknown at this time where they died or where they
are buried. I tend to believe they are buried in the same graveyard as Henry.

Manila had 4 children with 3 living.
NOTE: I do not find Calvin/Manila in any census after this date. Neither do I
know when or where they died, or where they are buried.

a Private, Co. H 49 Reg. Kentucky Vol Inf. (written in) is entitled to a pension
under the provisions of the
Act of June 27, 1890,
at the rate of Eight dollars per month to commence on the Twenty Third
(written in) day of June (written in) 1894 and to continue during her widowhood
unless she shall forfeit her right thereto. And she is also entitled to two dollars
per month additional for each of the following named children while living and
