PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL [date] [student|fname] [student|lname] [student|address] Dear [student|fname] [student|lname]: Thank you for meeting with me on [care_action|action_date]. During our conversation, you shared information related to possible sexual misconduct by a University of Michigan student. As I explained when we spoke, UM is committed to both supporting your well-being and acting to ensure the safety of our community. This letter summarizes several key points of our conversation and further highlights the options and support services available to you. First, when we met, I shared with you your rights and options under UM's Interim Procedure for Addressing Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Students, and provided you with a copy of that interim procedure. I explained that the University may need to further review and investigate the information you shared with [INSERT CSA source] and that you would have an opportunity to participate in that review and investigation process if you wished. During our conversation, you stated that you did not want to participate in any University review of, or response to, the information you provided. You did, however, agree to allow me to share your wishes with the Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR). Although you are choosing not to participate in the University's review and investigation process at this time, if you change your mind, please contact OSCR by phone at 734-936-6308 or by email at oscr@umich.edu. Second, I want to remind you that, whether you participate in the University's review and investigation process or not, you have the right to be protected from retaliation related to the information you shared. If you believe you are experiencing retaliation, please contact OSCR as soon as possible. Third, I want to encourage you to consider filing a report with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) or the Ann Arbor Police Department (AAPD), as appropriate. DPS can be reached at (734) 763-1131 and AAPD can be reached at (734) 794-6900. DPS or AAPD may conduct an investigation based on potential criminal activity related to any information you report. Fourth, as described in the Survivor's Handbook I provided to you at our meeting, it is important for you to know where to find additional sources for support and assistance should you find it helpful or necessary to do so. You may contact SAPAC at any time to obtain comprehensive advocacy and support. Our services are completely confidential; your personal information will not be shared.
