GOLDIA VIOLA BURRELL
Goldia Viola Burrell, daughter of William Columbus and Martha Ann (Allmon) Haynes,
was born July 26, 1896 at New Liberty, Missouri in Oregon County. She departed this
life May 16, 1972 in the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Mtn. View at the age of 75
years, 9 months, and 20 days. On June 23, 1920 she was united in marriage to Frederick
Warren Burrell and to this union was born one son, William Frederick Burrell of Winona.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Maggie Cooley and Mary
Weaver; five brothers, Jim Barnes and infant twin, Frank Barnes, Willis Haynes, and
Rufus (Bud) Haynes. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Fred and his wife Jerry,
four grandchildren, Mary, Mike, Bill, and Elizabeth, all of the home in Winona. Also,
three sisters, Dona Reed of Florissant, Missouri, Ruth White and Ester Dailey of Winona
and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends. Ola, as she was called, united
with the Methodist Church at a very early age, was active in the work of her Lord. Even
after her illness began 10 years ago she had projects going to help the church and never
lost her faith. Through her suffering she tried to be cheerful and loved to visit with her
relatives and friends. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Funeral services were held Thursday,
May 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Winona Methodist Church with Rev. John Thomas
officiating. Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Clary Funeral
Home of Winona.
