CULL EWES AND RAMS

An increased entry of cull sheep pitched this week with just shy of 600 forward.

Top price today went to Messrs Currie who sold Texel Crosses to £92.00.

Mark Crowder sold Charollais to £90.00, general best cutting Ewes sold in the region of £80-

£90.00.

Again Fat still difficult to place and Grazers still looking well sold at £45 to £58 or a little more for well bred sorts.

Cull Rams also met a decent trade with Messrs GA Stephens selling Charollais to £135.00 and Suffolks £118.00 also Mark Crowder sold Charollais to £104.00.

STORE LAMBS

A pitch of 200 Store Lambs forward today which sold to a decent trade.

Mark Brumby sold medium Suffolk Cross lambs to £65.50. General trade for quality lambs saw £58 to £65.50 and small late born sorts around £52.00.

BREEDING SHEEP

A very decent turnout of Breeders today which consisted of mostly 3-4 th crop Ewes.

Top price today went to Messrs Tim Dixon who sold Texel X Suffolk Shearlings to £172.00 and Suffolk X Scotch half breds from £150 to £162.

Mules Shearlings very hard to place with no interest at all. Older Ewes sold well with Gary

Sharpe selling 4 th crop Suffolk X’s to £120 and other leaner Ewes selling at £90 to £100, only anything lesser bred were less but above Cull value.

RAMS

A decent entry of 20 Breeding Rams.

Top price went to Mr and Mrs J Crust who sold Rouge Shearlings to £400, Messrs Mawer sold Charolais Shearlings to £350 and Ram lambs to £300.

All in all Ram trade a little sticky perhaps too early for some people.

FORTHCOMING SALES

12 ¾ bred Limousin Heifers 12 -14 months

CALF REPORT

Auctioneer: Keith Miller

Mobile: 0780 1032847

Yet again another decent turn out in this department with 80 forward.

Trade for the best would be a little easier due to a few buyers choosing to go combining rather than having a day at market.

Top price went to Messrs Cook who sold Limousin heifers to £410 and Messrs Oliver sold

Blonde bulls to £350.

Today a lot of calves presented were too young at around 10-12 days old which made them look less. Purchasers would rather buy a 3-4 week old calf.

STIRKS

Stirks also sold well with Messrs West Hall Lodge selling 6 month old Limousin Cross bulls to

£650 and Friesians to £520 and anything a little hard done less.

Heifers sold well with the calvers reaching £450 for a 3 month old Limousin X.

Heifers – 96 averaged 225.39p

Heifers again dearer on the week, leveling slightly dearer than the steers again with the quality being dearer still! A pleasure and privilege to sell such great runs of cattle that you would have to go miles to find around here, to a packed ringside of buyers – and yes in a

RED Market!

My thanks to ALL VENDORS in ALL SECTIONS! The BIG G is back next week, more needed!!
