THIS & THAT FOR MARCH…
Trinity Renovation 2015
Trinity church is moving forward! I do not ask about many
specific characteristics of a church before initially
assuming its pastoral leadership, but one that is vital to
me is a congregation that desires to move forward in
ministry and in the Kingdom of God. I want to be a part
of a church that is making a real difference in the
community and the world. That is a must!
As churches move forward in the spiritual realm, there are
always necessary improvements in the physical realm. As
you know by now, our Worship/Life Center will be
receiving a makeover following Easter. Several questions
have been raised by members about the renovation
project. Let me address a few.
“On the Pledge Cards, why were there only places to mark
pledges to be given by an April deadline? I cannot give a
large sum by that date, but I can give an amount each
month for the next year or so.”
The Fundraising
Committee wanted to raise as much money as possible
(hopefully the entire amount) before the start date.
Therefore they initially focused on the April deadline. But
please feel free to pledge a certain amount even if that
amount cannot be donated by April. Every gift, no matter
how small or large, is important.
a sense of responsibility for the fundraising effort. We
would like every ministry group or team (Sunday School
classes, Men’s & Women’s groups, Youth, Children’s
Ministry, Activities Team, etc.) plan some sort of
fundraiser. Please see Kim Fleck if you are willing to host
a fundraiser.
“Is the remodeling really necessary?” Well, the church will
not fall-in if we do nothing (at least for a while). However,
the Worship/Life Center has seen heavy use for fifteen
years. The carpet is fraying and stained beyond cleaning.
The “carpet on the walls” is coming loose. The electrical
circuits are overloaded (which is why we often trip
breakers). The stage area is not adequate for our Praise
Band,
Children’s
Musicals,
and
other
ministry
presentations. Actually, a significant portion of the socalled “remodeling” will actually be overdue maintenance.
On top of that, there will be a certain amount devoted to
“sprucing up” a place which was originally constructed for
a “gym” to also better serve us as a Worship Center.
“Who is in charge of fundraising?” The Finance Committee
has appointed a Fundraising Committee to encourage
donations and fundraisers. However, it is important that
every ministry group, committee, and church member feel

by April?” The project will still move forward, but we will
have to borrow the remaining amount.
“Who is in charge of the renovation?” The Church Council
has appointed a Building Committee to move forward with
the renovation plan they have already approved. Most
decisions will be left to this committee under the umbrella
of the Church Council. Our own Greg Murphy is serving as
