Intern Program:
The Ephrata Performing Arts Center Intern program provides hands –on training in
all aspects of theater production and administration. The program will allow
students the opportunity to work closely with an experienced and diverse staff of
theatre professionals.
Candidates may emphasize the discipline of choice, but there is opportunity to cross
over into other aspects of the operation.
Theatre Location and Brief Description:
 Though EPAC is technically a Community Theatre, it is rated among area
regional Professional and Equity theatres. The non-union status coupled
with credited high quality work enables EPAC to offer credible and extensive
resume/portfolio-building opportunities to interns and entering
professionals.
 A 300 seat Thrust Theatre, in a two story, 30,000 sf, climate controlled
facility. Recently renovated in 2004
 Operating as a theatre since 1957
 Seven major productions, several smaller productions, and summer youth
program offer a full range of opportunities
 State of the Art lighting and sound-Specs (can be provided)
 Well-equipped carpentry shop
 Reciprocal arrangements with Fulton Theatre, Gretna Theatre, Millersville
University, Franklin and Marshall and Albright Colleges, Atomic Design, Clair
Brothers Audio, & Dutch Apple Theatre
Internship Specs

Age Requirement: Candidates must be 18 years or older. Internships related to
course credit are preferred. EPAC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Period of Internship: Approx 12 weeks (Hours will include days and some
evenings)
o Session Options are:
 September-December
 January-April
 May-August
Benefit of Internship
o Stipend: $75-$95 per week depending on job responsibilities and
receive a minimum of one full day off per week.
 Need based gas stipend-Can receive a maximum of $50 a week for
gas stipend- based on mileage receipts.
o Additional Compensation: Complimentary tickets for productions that
the intern is involved.
o Develop Marketable Skills and contacts for future employment
o Great opportunity to work with professional designers and staff.
o College credit as per your specific college or university

Arts Management
1. Development –(Emphasis on Business Development-Donors-Grants)

Summary of Responsibilities:


Technical Theatre: Carpenter
The immediate supervisor is the Technical Director
 Assist in scenic construction, set up and load in for all productions and
events.
 Assist in maintaining the order and safety of the shop and the
performance space.
 Work as Assistant Stage Manager as needed.
 Assist with scene shifts in performance as needed.
 Assist in painting and prop-construction as needed.
 Help maintain physical production during each run


Technical Theatre: Electrician
The immediate supervisor is the Technical Director
 Assist in set up and load in for all productions and events.
 Assist in maintaining the order and safety of the shop and the
performance space including gel files and spare lamps
 Operate light board and or spot lights for performances
 Assist in all electrical hook-ups (sound and video) as needed
 Assist in hanging, circuiting, and focusing all productions & events
 Help maintain physical production during each run (light check and
lamp changes)
Technical Theatre: Sound Engineer
 The immediate supervisor is the Technical Director
 Assist in sound/video set up and load in for all productions and
events.
 Assist in maintaining the order and safety of the shop and the
performance space.
 Assist in creating the sound layout and sound effects
 Operate the sound board and/or video for performances
 Help maintain physical production during each run


Technical Theatre: Costumes
The immediate supervisor is the Artistic Director
 Assist in costume construction, fittings and alterations, set up and
load in for all productions and events.
 Assist in maintaining the costumes and the order and safety of the
shop and the performance space.

Assist with dressing and running in performance as needed.
Assist in hair and make up as needed.
Help maintain physical production during each run.


Arts Management (Emphasis on Advertising & Marketing)
Immediate Supervisor is Managing Director
 Assist or lead in promotional activities (tours, talks, etc.)
 Assist in ad sales and billing, bulk mailing
 Assist in playbill set up and production
 Assist in maintaining mailing list and data bases
 Assist in audience relationship/customer service
 Assist in writing press release
 Assist in Dramaturgical research and preparation for promotions

Arts Management (Emphasis on Development: Business and Audience
Development and Fundraising)
Immediate Supervisor is Managing Director
 Assist in fundraising operations
 Assit in Grant Writing & Reserach
 Assist or lead in promotional activities (tours, talks, etc.)
 Assist in sponsorship sales, strategies
 Assist in playbill ad sales
 Assist in maintaining business mailing list and data bases
 Assist in audience relationship/customer service
 Assist in sponsorship relationship

