Position: Early Childhood Educator and or Aide
Location: Hampton After School
Status: 20-25 hours/week
Position Salary: Hourly rate (Commensurate with education and experience)
Anticipated Start Date: Immediately
Nature and Scope:
The YMCA of Greater Saint John is a charity offering opportunities for personal growth, community involvement
and leadership. The Early Childhood Educator will play an essential role in children's learning and growth, including
physical and social development in a safe and child-centred environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Understands and complies with the New Brunswick Child Care facilities standards, Abuse Protocol Practices. Plans
and implements a consistent child-centered program in accordance with YMCA and New Brunswick standards.
Understands and complies with YMCA Playing to Learn and the New Brunswick Early Learning and Child Care
Curriculum.
2. Demonstrates a commitment to children’s learning and is responsive to research.
3. Understands each child and their family’s specific needs and plans for successful out comes.
4. Models appropriate behaviours to staff in line with our Mission, Vision and Values; establishes rapport and
maintains effective relationship building behaviour with staff, volunteers and members.
5. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
6. Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism and imparts this knowledge and belief
upon staff, volunteers and members.
7. Self manages on-going professional development.
8. Ensures that all daily routines are followed, documented and completed in a timely fashion.
9. Attend monthly staff meetings and quarterly department meetings.
10. Adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Y's employee and child care policy manuals. Adheres to
record keeping as outlined by the Department of Social Development. Enrolls, participates and implements Playing
to Learn and New Brunswick Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum training. Ensures that confidentiality is
maintained at all times.

ECE Certificate or equivalent training.
Minimum of 1 year experience working in a Child Care, After School or Youth program.
Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, site locations.
Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
Strong communication, customer service skills, a team player.
First Aid/CPR
Security clearance by Police Department and Department of Social Development
Medical Certificate and T.B. test
