A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Program of Membrane Biology, part of the Center for Systems Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital, to study mechanisms of protein trafficking and response to injury in renal tubular epithelial cells. Specifically, we use the water channel AQP2 as a model system to study protein trafficking in kidney cells. We are expanding our interest to understanding the novel role of water channels in renal tubular integrity and tubular development in kidney. Our ultimate goal is to dissect out the mechanism of tubular dysfunction leading to kidney injury and cystic kidney disease. We are taking comprehensive approaches and applying multiple model systems, including in vitro 3D culture, in vitro organ culture/tissue slice culture, isolated kidney perfusion, mouse models and zebrafish models to study various kidney diseases. Candidates with strong background in cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry are preferred.
