POSITION DESCRIPTION:

POSITION TITLE:
Arts Program Manager
EFT:
0.8 EFT (four days per week)
CONTRACT DURATION:
12 months commencing February 2012
REMUNERATION:
Total Equivalent Package Value of $81,000 pa
pro rata (includes $65,000 base salary, 9%
superannuation, annual leave loading and
maximum benefit of salary packaging).
REPORTS TO:
Executive Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
With a focus on high quality programming and capacity building, you will lead a team
of highly skilled professionals to develop programs that demonstrate best practice
inclusive arts and build the creative case for the contribution of artists with a
disability.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is a part-time contract employee of Arts Access Victoria and is covered
by the Arts Access Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2004.
LOCATION
The position is primarily based in Arts Access Victoria’s offices (currently located at
222 Bank Street South Melbourne). Some intrastate and interstate travel is required.
ABOUT ARTS ACCESS VICTORIA
Established in 1974, Arts Access Victoria (AAV) has since become the state’s leading
arts and disability organisation, dedicated to maximising opportunities for people
with a disability to create art, experience art and work in the arts. The organisation
achieves this vision through: advocacy; the delivery of arts programs and events for
people with a disability; professional development programs for artists with a
disability; disability awareness training for arts organisations and distribution of
disability access information and advice.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Arts Program Manager is responsible to the Executive Director.
SUPERVISION
This position supervises 4 permanent and 50 casual contractors and oversees a
number of key projects.
MAJOR CONTACTS
The position works closely with the all members of the Executive Team including the
Arts Development Manager, the Access Program Manager; Operations Manager and
the Grants Manager.
The position liaises and negotiates with people/artists with a disability, funding
agency representatives, program and project partners, peak arts, community and
disability organisations, Deaf community, artists and art workers, and the general
community.
KEY DUTIES
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT







Lead reflective processes on best practice inclusive arts
Manage a dynamic contemporary arts program within a community capacity
building framework
Develop and oversee programs tailored to the needs and aspirations of
individual artists in partnership with key arts, disability and community
partners, to ensure sustainability, broadest impact and community
ownership
Proactively seek resources including the development of funding applications
to facilitate program goals
Develop and manage the Arts Program budgets together with program staff
Oversee the evaluation and review program processes and outcomes
Ensure compliancy with all funding and service agreements
SECTOR DEVELOPMENT



Co-ordinate referrals, resources, expert advice and information to
stakeholders about arts and disability
Represent Arts Access Victoria on steering committees and reference groups
Develop strategies that support sector growth and development

Review and promote best practice in the arts/disability field
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT



Develop and deliver strategies that achieve the goals of the organisation’s
Strategic Plan
Contribute to the policy and advocacy agenda of the organisation
Identify and respond to issues which affect the program’s ability to achieve
its objectives
Selection Criteria
Essential
Proven track record in arts program management and delivery within a community
cultural development framework
Proven track record of business plan/budget implementation
Experience in supervision of staff
Excellent communication skills
Established networks within the arts/disability sectors
Desirable
Understanding of contemporary issues in arts and disability
Experience in leading inclusive projects
