POSITION TITLE:
Manager, Arts Program
EFT:
0.8 EFT (four days per week)
REMUNERATION:
$70,682 (pro rata) + 9% superannuation and
generous salary packaging1.
REPORTS TO:
Veronica Pardo - Executive Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION
With a focus on high quality contemporary programming, you will lead a team of
highly skilled professionals to develop arts projects that demonstrate best practice
inclusive arts and raise the profile of artists with a disability as important cultural
contributors. You will bring a strong track record of leading community arts and
cultural development programs, as well as an understanding of broader
disability/mental health issues to the delivery of a range of multi-artform projects.
With support, you will also lead the program’s transition to be NDIS-ready.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is a part-time contract employee of Arts Access Victoria and is covered
by the Arts Access Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2004.
Flexibility regarding days worked and spread of hours may be negotiated to the
mutual benefit of Arts Access Victoria and the Manager Arts Program.
LOCATION
The position is primarily based in Arts Access Victoria’s administration offices at 222
Bank Street South Melbourne. Some intrastate and interstate travel is required.

through: advocacy; the delivery of arts programs and events for people with a
disability; professional development programs for artists with a disability; disability

SUPERVISION
This position oversees a number of key projects and supervises five permanent parttime staff and approximately 50 casual contractors.
MAJOR CONTACTS
The position is a member of the Executive Team and works closely with the Executive
Director and staff from across the organisation.
The position leads Arts Access Victoria’s externals relationships including funding
agency representatives, program and project partners, peak arts, community and
disability organisations, and local government. The position regularly liaises with
people and artists with disability, artists and art workers, and the general
community.
KEY DUTIES
CREATIVE PRODUCER
 Oversee a range of multi artform projects to advance and showcase the work
of artists with a disability across all levels of artistic endeavour.

Lead a process of creative development within the organisation that positions
artists with a disability as central creators and decision makers.

Build productive relationships leading to dynamic collaborations across the
arts and cultural sector.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

Manage a dynamic contemporary arts team within a capacity building
framework.

Transition the program so as to position Arts Access Victoria as a provider of
choice within a competitive, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
environment.

Develop and oversee programs tailored to the needs and aspirations of
individual artists in partnership with key arts, disability and community
partners, to ensure sustainability and broadest impact.

Proactively seek resources through funding applications and project
partnerships to facilitate program goals.

Develop and manage the Program budgets in consultation with staff.

Oversee evaluation and review of arts program processes and outcomes to
ensure continuous improvement.

Lead reflective processes on best practice inclusive arts.

Ensure compliancy with all funding and service agreements.
SECTOR DEVELOPMENT

Co-ordinate referrals, resources, expert advice and information to
stakeholders about arts and disability.

Represent Arts Access Victoria on steering committees and reference groups.

Develop strategies that support sector growth and development.

Review and promote best practice in the arts/disability field.
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Develop and implement strategies that help to achieve the goals of the
organisation’s Strategic Plan.

Contribute to the policy and advocacy agenda of the organization.

Identify and respond to issues which affect the arts program’s ability to
achieve its objectives in particular meeting the requirements of the National
Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), ensuring readiness for the NDIS roll out in
2017.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential

A proven track record of leading community arts and cultural development
programs or undertaking creative producer roles

Proven track record in program management and development of staff

Proven experience and ability to manage partnerships and strategic
relationships across a range of sectors

Proven experience working with business plans/budgets

Excellent communication skills
Desirable

Understanding of contemporary issues in arts and disability

Established networks within the arts/disability sectors

Experience in leading inclusive projects

Understanding of the NDIS and its potential impact on participation by
people with a disability in a cultural context
