PARKWAY NORTH VARSITY HOCKEY CHEERLEADING
BYLAWS
I
ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR
A.
A cheerleader must maintain the academic and citizenship standards set by
Mid-States Club Hockey Cheerleading Association (MSCHCA).
B.
A cheerleader must display good sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
C.
Smoking or use of tobacco (to include chewing tobacco), will result in dismissal of the
cheerleader from the squad.
D.
The sale/possession/use/under the influence of alcohol/drugs during the season
will result in dismissal of the cheerleader from the squad.
E.
A student receiving a suspension from school for disciplinary action while a member of the
cheerleading squad will result in suspension from the squad for the same period of time.
F.
Disrespect of a serious nature (foul language, inappropriate gestures, etc.) displayed
toward a sponsor(s), another squad or fellow teammates will, at the discretion of the
sponsor(s), result in disciplinary measures.
II
UNIFORM
A.
Cheerleader uniforms (skirt, shells, wind suit) designated by the sponsor(s) are considered
appropriate attire. Exceptions to this uniform must be approved by the sponsor(s).
B.
All decorative additions must be approved by the sponsor(s) and must be consistent.
C.
Cheerleader uniforms will be worn to school on the day of a game or on the
Friday before a weekend game or worn as determined by the sponsor(s).

There will be no public display of affection, inappropriate language or behavior while in uniform.
PRACTICE
A.
Practices will not be held at school UNLESS a sponsor is present.
B.
Every effort must be made to attend every practice. All practices are scheduled in advance and No
excuses, unless an emergency arises, will be accepted. Girls participating in school sponsored events
will be excused if cleared in advance by sponsor(s). If you are unable to make practice, you must
notify a sponsor in advance. Doctor and dental appointments should be scheduled at Non-practice or
Non-game times.
C.
Arriving late and leaving early from practice is the same thing as not attending practice at all. Every attempt
should be made to attend all practices.
D.
A cheerleader who misses 3 practices will receive a 1- game suspension. (A suspension requires
that the cheerleader attend the game in uniform but will not be allowed to cheer.)
E.
A cheerleader who misses 5 practices will be dismissed from the squad.
F.
Proper attire should be worn to practices. This includes tennis shoes, shorts/sweat pants (hemmed to
the appropriate length -off the floor), and a t-shirt. No jewelry (this includes earring studs) and no jeans.

The cheerleader who misses practice must check with the captain(s) to find out what was missed.
GAMES
A.
If a cheerleader misses school on the day of a game, without being excused by the school
officials (Principal/Counselor), she will not be eligible to cheer on that date.
B.
A cheerleader must be on time to each game. (Each girl should arrive at the hockey rink
20 minutes before the scheduled game time, dressed and ready to cheer)

Cheerleaders must make their own transportation arrangements.
D.
Cheerleaders are expected to attend all Varsity Hockey Games.
E.
Cheerleaders will be expected to attend some C Team Games.
F.
A cheerleader who misses 3 games will be removed from the squad.
SUMMER
A.
Cheerleaders are required to attend summer camp.
B.
Cheerleaders are expected to attend summer practices as scheduled by the sponsor(s).
FUNDRAISING
A.
Fundraising is mandatory. All money raised will be used to defray the cost of
cheerleading expenses (operating expenses, uniforms, accessories, camp, etc.)
