No. 165 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, In keeping with the school's well-established tradition of excellence in interscholastic competition, the North Garland High School varsity coed cheerleading squad has again met with great success, placing first in their respective division at the National Cheerleading Association Championship competition held at the Dallas Convention Center December 28-29, 1992; these fine young athletes competed with more than 558 teams from 39 states and impressed the judges with their innovative cheering, dancing, and gymnastic routines; and WHEREAS, With this most recent victory, dedicated members of the North Garland High School varsity coed squad achieved the unprecedented feat of winning the national coed championship title four years in a row; and WHEREAS, Under the experienced leadership of Bobby Detrick, a former cheerleader from Southern Methodist University, and Stacey Keathley, a dancer from Los Angeles and former Plano East High School cheerleader, the team has achieved a crowd-pleasing style that it consistently performs with fine-tuned precision; and WHEREAS, The squad's sponsor, Laurel Dingrando, also has contributed a great deal to the success of this remarkable group; with a knack for organization, she has skillfully managed and coordinated the group's many needs and activities, positively affecting to a large extent its chances for success; and WHEREAS, Members of the North Garland High School's award-winning varsity coed squad include Younis Baiani, Amy Bereuter, Stacey Buchanan, Mitzi Burrow, Cristy Callaway, Brian Cawthon, David Griffin, Josh Hackett, Mindy Hesse, Heath House, Jennifer James, Stacy Johnson, Greg Michniak, Stefani Pitcock, Jon Thomas, Tyson Thomas, Victor Togunde, Julie Wilson, and Trey Woolston; each performed with excellence and skill after months of grueling preparation; and WHEREAS, This fine team stands as a shining example to groups everywhere of the importance of hard work, determination, and enthusiasm in building a truly successful program; indeed, the unique achievements of the talented North Garland High School varsity coed cheerleading squad, its directors, and its sponsor are a shared source of pride to the school and community and are deserving of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the North Garland High School varsity coed cheerleading team for its success in achieving top honors at the National Cheerleading Association Championship; and, be it further RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared for the members of the team, its directors and its sponsor and for prominent display at North Garland High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
