Junior Falcon Cheerleading Application The purpose of Junior Falcon Cheerleading is to: 1. Create school spirit, pride and loyalty 2. Promote interest in school activities and perform at Junior Falcon Football games 3. Develop responsibility, teach self-respect, encourage honest effort, strive for perfection and develop character. 4. Teach teamwork and pride in a quality performance through maintaining high standards. Each grade level has a coaching staff. The coaches will be responsible for the daily running and activities of their grade level squad. The coaches will also be responsible for administering all disciplinary procedures I. Eligibility Each member must submit a completed Application Form and Parental Consent/Medical Release Form BEFORE the mandatory clinic on April 21st. ALL FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY APRIL 18TH, 7PM. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. APPLICANT MUST ATTEND ROCKWOOD SOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL, UTHOFF, STANTON, KELLISON OR BOWLES ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT 20122013 SCHOOL YEAR. II. Attendance A. Members must attend all practices/games.. However, it is understandable that families take vacations in the summer. These should be kept to a reasonable amount of missed practices (3 or less/6 if your squad practices twice a week). * B. If a member misses a practice for any reason, she is responsible to learn the missed materials before returning to practice.* C. All members must attend each activity in its entirety. * D. The grade level coach must be told at least a week in advanced if any activity will be missed.* E. If a cheerleader has In School Suspension (ISS) and/or Out of School Suspension (OSS), they are NOT permitted to participate in practice and/or games during their suspension period.* *Please see demerit policy III. Uniform A. Each member is responsible for the purchase of his/her uniform. B. Each member will be required to maintain good condition & cleanliness of his/her uniform. C. PAYMENT PLAN: ½ DUE APRIL 21ST, SECOND ½ DUE MAY 12TH, NO EXTENSIONS OR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE D. UNIFORM FITTINGS (MANDATORY): APRIL 21ST - 10:15-11AM 5TH GR / 11:0012PM 6TH GR / 12:45-1:45 7TH & 8TH GR Please return signed portion of this application to Julie Ricketts by 4/18/12 (1870 San Pedro Ln). No late applications will be accepted. Please retain a copy of the constitution for your records. IV. Character A. Team members should be leaders within the school and set a good example at all times. B. Smoking, drinking and/or drug use are grounds for immediate dismissal by the Advisor. C. A member must be courteous and friendly to all other team members as well as the student body. D. A member must be courteous and friendly to other teams and visitors. E. A member must be respectful to the coach, advisor, and a credit to the school. F. Any inappropriate pictures online are grounds for immediate dismissal. V. Points A. Points or demerits will be used as a disciplinary tool. B. Demerits will be given by the coach or the advisor. C. Six points will result in cheerleader being sidelined from next performance. D. Eight Points will result in suspension for two weeks. Cheerleader will have to be present at all activities but will not be allowed to participate. E. Ten points will result in dismissal from the team for the remainder of the season. F. One point will be given for: a. Tardiness at any team activity. b. Disrespect towards any coach, teammates or other squads. c. Forgotten uniform pieces. d. Inappropriate performance makeup. e. Missing practice for ANY reason f. Any absence from a practice before a game will result in cheerleader not performing in that next game’s half time performance. G. Three points will be given for: a. Missing a Saturday game for any reason (these games are mandatory) b. Use of inappropriate language in uniform. c. Public Display of Affection in Uniform H. If a cheerleader has received ISS or OSS and the parent allows their child to participate and not notify the coach, IN ADDITION to the demerit policies above consequences will be: a. Suspension from 2 performances for the first occurrence b. Second violation will result in removal from squad for the remainder of the season. I. Opportunities for earning merits, to count against demerits, will be given by coaches at their discretion. (examples for merit opportunities include but are not limited to: exemplary behavior at practice and/or community service completed by the cheerleader during the current season.) Camp A. All members (grades 5 – 7) are required to attend Summit Camp. B. Camp will be at Rockwood Summit High School in June. C. Cost will be $35 (payable by May 12th) which includes 1-day instruction and a camp t-shirt. D. 8th Graders are required to attend NCA Cheer Camp at Fontbonne University on July 14 - 17. E. Cost will be $300 (see payment schedule under uniforms) which includes 4-day camp, food, lodging, and 2 camp shirts. VI. VII. Fundraising A. Several fundraisers will be offered. However, no member is required to fundraise. B. The fundraisers are offered to offset individual cost and build the Junior Falcon Cheerleading program.
