The application statement is therefore your opportunity to explain to the Advisors the following important matters: Who you are as an artist (including your artistic philosophy, practice and interests and the current challenges in your creative processes) Your proposed research topic or project for Sàn Art Laboratory (including its inspiration, relevance and meaning in the current artistic climate) Your vision of growth and development in the next 3-5 years We encourage you to be clear and specific so that the Advisors gain an insightful understanding of you and your work through this application statement. 2 RESIDENCY CONDITIONS Please ensure you read the following basic conditions of the Sàn Art Laboratory residency program carefully before sending in your application. The full terms and conditions of the program would be specified in an Artist – Sàn Art Agreement, which you are expected to sign should you be chosen to participate: Artist understands that he/she is to become a full-time resident at the living/studio space throughout his/her residency period Artist agrees to actively participate and contribute to critical discussion, with appointed ‘talking partner’ and discussion groups, throughout their residency period in ‘San Art Laboratory’ Artist agrees to show artwork produced at ‘San Art Laboratory’ in a group exhibition at Gallery (exhibition to take place in the last month of residency). This artwork should be first viewed at San Art Lab exhibition. Artist agrees to give permission to Gallery to document (eg. photograph, video etc.) the process of ‘San Art Laboratory’ for purpose of promotion in print and online Artist understands that Gallery will, from time to time, bring visitors/collectors to meet Artist and view progress of new work and ideas Artist agrees to give an ‘artist talk’ during the residency period Artist agrees to participate in recommended workshops and creative activities initiated or invited by the Gallery Artist agrees that no other external activity (eg. exhibition, artist talk, etc) shall be undertaken during the ‘San Art Laboratory’ period without prior consultation with the Gallery within reasonable time.
