Texture Rubbing Detectives
Students will discover textures by feeling with their fingers. The students will find textures in the
classroom and then they will create textures with rubbing a crayon.

Texture Rubbings
Students will evaluate texture of found objects. Students will create texture by rubbing objects outdoors to
create a rubbing collage. Students will evaluate their rubbings to see the different textures objects create.

Texture Sketches
Students will create sketched line drawings of bark of a tree. Students will touch the bark of a tree to feel
texture and then they will create what a texture would look like of the bark. They will complete the sketch
in their sketch books.

Leonardo da Vinci
Introduce the artist to the students by viewing a portrait of him and prints of his artwork. (Internet as well). Read
book orally to students discussing da Vinci and his life. Students will evaluate his artwork for use of color, line and
texture. Students will use lines to create their writing backwards as da Vinci wrote.


Cool and Warm Colors
Analyze the color wheel for cool and warm colors. View artwork via the Internet and prints and analyze artwork for
cool and warm colors. Students will create a line drawing of their initial and create 5 lines in the letter and
background.


Modifications will be made according to the needs of the student.
 Vision: Students will sit closer to the board or demonstration area when
demonstrating art techniques.
 Reading/Writing: Students will be given appropriate accommodations that follow
their IEP: read to, scribed for.
 Physical Disabilities: Modifications will be made to ensure the best working
environment for the student. Adaptable materials will be used as well. Activities will
be modified accordingly.
 TAG Students: Activities will be given to allow the students with gifted talents to be
challenged.
 Hearing: Students will sit closer to the teacher for hearing accommodations.
