This event will be during the school day. Well done to all the children. More details will follow about the organisation of this trip. Countryside Day The Phoenix class had a fantastic time at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on Tuesday. There were interesting workshops on willow weaving, identifying trees and observing all the different animals. I gather that 12 Beagle puppies nearly found new homes in Great Ouseburn! Sports Cluster day The children had a fantastic time on Wednesday at the Sports Council Cluster Sports Day. They participated in athletics, rounders and goal ball. Well done to Seren, Joshua, Henry and Sophie who gained silver medals in the 800m and goal ball. School Dinners Increase For many years, school dinners have been at the price of £2.10. This is incredible value for a two course, hot dinner cooked at school using fresh ingredients. School dinners will still be incredible value in September at the new price of £2.20. Please note that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will still be entitled to free school dinners. QE French At Queen Ethelburga’s the Flying Theatre Company will perform a highly entertaining play, in French called Bon Voyage, but with enough clues for everyone to follow the action. All of the KS2 children will be going to watch this educational play on Tuesday 16th June between 11am - 12pm. They will be back for lunch. We would be grateful for a donation of £3.00 to cover the cost of the play and transport. Crucial Crew On Wednesday 17th June, the Year 6 children will be making their annual trip to Crucial Crew. This is jointly organised by the emergency services. They highlight the dangers and temptations that children might be exposed to as teenagers and give them strategies to deal with these situations. We would be grateful for a donation of £6.00 to cover the cost of the transport. Class Photos Ian and Jan Hill will be in school on Thursday 18th June, to take our annual class photos. Please give your child’s hair an extra brush that day! Fathers Day lunch - 19th June Menu Sausages & Mash Carrots & Peas Gravy Crusty Bread Jam Sponge with Custard Art Week - Leeds Art Gallery - 30th June On Tuesday 30th June, all the school, apart from Reception children, will be paying an exciting visit to Leeds Art Gallery. This is part of our school Art week when we will be ' taking one picture’ from Leeds Art Gallery as our inspiration for all our learning that week. We will be exploring the gallery and having an art workshop inspired by our choice of painting or sculpture. It promises to be an exhilarating trip, giving the children the chance to learn curriculum subjects from a different perspective. If you are free and can be a parent volunteer for this trip, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please give your name into the office. We would be very grateful for a donation of £8.00 to cover transport and the workshop. Transition Morning On Wednesday 8th July, we welcome our new Reception children for September. We will also take this opportunity for each year group to move up in preparation for the start of the new academic year. The DEN The DEN are having a picnic party on Wednesday 17th June. We will be playing camping style games and will be having a picnic in the playground - weather permitting!
