Small Animal Graduate Clinician Exciting new opportunities for three Veterinary Surgeons based at our 24-Hour Hospital in Bradford. We are offering three, 12-month placements, providing a broad post-graduate clinical training experience for Veterinary Surgeons eager to increase their knowledge and experience which would act as a solid foundation for general practice and also preparation for entry to a residency programme. We have all the equipment expected in a Hospital standard practice; equipment including biochemistry, haematology, electrolytes, coag, colour/CW/PW Doppler ultrasonography, CR xray, variety of endoscopes, separate cat, dog, IC and isolation wards.. You would be working with friendly, enthusiastic professionals who give support and encouragement where needed which we think is very important. These positions will involve working alongside our certificate holders in Dermatology, Medicine, Surgery and Ophthalmology and our Out of Hours emergency team, providing you with valuable clinical and practical experience. Our Hospital site offers 24 hour nursing and we run our own “Out of Hours” service from it. We strive to offer our clients a really good service presented with a personal, friendly yet professional touch. (Read the Blog from January 2012 on our website) The successful candidates must possess a Veterinary Degree, which is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and be able to work and practice veterinary medicine in the UK. Responsibilities will be split between the Emergency Service and the Hospital. You will work on a rota of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. On the Emergency service you will have an experienced Nurse on duty and an experienced colleague as second call available at all times. You will be responsible for the care of all the in-patients as well as attending to out-of-hours cases as they arise. On the Hospital duties you will work closely with the Vets and Nurses managing both the medical and surgical case load as well as the first opinion work presented. We will be offering a CPD allowance as part of the benefits package. Accommodation can also be provided if required. We are a VN Training centre and have 8 surgeries, including the Hospital site, across Leeds and Bradford. You will be based at the Hospital site. Your rota will be based on a 3 week cycle. Week One: Day Shift working Monday to Friday and Saturday morning. Week Two: Night Shift working from Monday evening to Monday morning. Week Three: OFF from Monday morning to Monday evening of the following week. You will have an experienced colleague as 2nd call on every OOH duty as well as working alongside an experienced nursing team. Accommodation can be provided if required. A CPD allowance and paid time off to attend courses also provided. The position is expected to last 12 months. You must hold a veterinary degree and be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
