Denver Broncos Postgame Quotes Page 2 John Fox, Head Coach On Team Depth this Season “I think going into our fourth year, I mentioned that when we started our off-season going into our OTA’s and even into camp that it was probably our best roster to date. I still feel that. Obviously, there are some very hard decisions we have to make over the next 48 hours. That’s never the fun part of this job, but we will do our very best to take the best 53.” On Decisions at Running Back Position – “Well, I’m not prepared to sit here and tell you what we’re going to do right now. Again, there are some hard decisions we have to make. We have some young guys that I think are quality players. You know, as I’ve told them all along things may not work out here but you put your resume on tape and it may work out somewhere else.” On QB Brock Osweiler – “He’s matured so much in our system. Adam Gase and Greg Knapp our quarterback coach have done a tremendous job preparing him. He has gotten those live game reps that I think are critical in any quarterback’s development. I really like where he is and I think he showed up pretty well again tonight.” On Team Performance/Depth/Health “Definitely, as I mentioned earlier it’s the strongest we’ve been in our tenure here. John Elway and his staff have done a tremendous job building that depth. Now it’s just a matter of starting the regular season and staying healthy throughout. You have got to be fortunate in that area. I think that has proven to be true through most NFL seasons.” Brock Osweiler, Quarterback “I think it was a great team effort tonight. It all starts with the offensive line. I thought that second group played lights out. They gave me time to throw and the backs plenty of holes to run through. Outside of them, there were a lot of young perimeter players that stepped up. Isaiah Burse had a tremendous game. Cody Latimer made a big play. Bubba (Caldwell) made a big play. So I think it was a great group effort tonight and it was definitely the way you wanted to finish your fourth preseason game.” On Caldwell’s big play: “I didn’t actually see the catch. I saw the ball come out of my hand so I definitely know it was behind, not exactly where I wanted to place that football. But I know Bubba went up there and made a great play for me. I thanked him for it right afterwards. I’m anxious to see it on tape tomorrow.” “We always practice two minute drives in practice. I’ve been fortunate now, I think that was my third one this preseason. We got one in San Francisco before the half. We got one last week…and we got one this week. For a second unit to get three two-minute drives in a preseason, I think that’s huge. Guys stepped up and made big plays. We were fortunate to get points before the half.” “Kapri (Bibbs) looked good and so did a lot of other guys. Like I said, it all starts with the offensive line. They opened up those holes for those guys. It was a great team effort and I’m very proud of everybody tonight.” “After the first preseason game, I talked about consistently getting better each week. I felt as a unit going from week 1 to week 2 we got better. Last week, I felt like we took a slight step backwards. And then we came out tonight and took another step forwards.” Isaiah Burse, Wide Receiver “I’m very comfortable (on special teams) just because I know I have to take it serious, even in practice. I know if I want to make this team, that’s what I’ll be doing…You’ve got to be good at it. They ‘ve got to be able to trust. You’ve got to be back there comfortable knowing that when I get back here I’ll make the right decision every time. They can count on me and I want to be one of those guys. I pride myself on that. Today, I think a decent job on that.” “I’m blessed. I’m happy. This is a dream. I got through a whole NFL training camp and four games of preseason. I know a lot of dudes would like to be in my position right now. I feel like I gave it my all out there. I’ll be happy end with result Denver Broncos Postgame Quotes Page 2 just because I know I left it all on the field tonight. I did some pretty good things. If I end up not in Denver, I won’t be heart broken because I played my heart out tonight.” Kapri Bibbs, Running Back “I just think that this is a game that’s really important for young guys like me. Just go out there, give your all, leave it all on the line and make the decisions for the coaches even harder and make other NFL coaches take a look at you as well. It was real good.” On veteran leadership: “They are really good mentors. Ronnie, CJ and Montee help me out all the time…They pull me to side tell me what I can do better…It’s great having these guys around because they are really good group of guys and really understand and know how it feels to be young. They just help us all out.” More on veterans: “They just told us to go out there and leave it all out there. They just reminded me when they were rookies, even Dave Bruton and Wes Welker, they all sat us down and told us no matter what just leave it all out there. To be undrafted, this is the only opportunity you have. For some guys, this might be the last NFL game they play in.” “This is the last game. Only God knows if this was my last one, but I wanted to make sure it was a good one. I left it all out there and wanted to have fun too.” Cody Latimer, Wide Receiver “I just hope that the coaches thought I played good and hopefully, I’ll stick around. This weekend is a tough weekend. You never know what’s going to happen. We’ve got to get the roster down. I'm just hoping that I left it on the field and had a good game.” “(The veterans said) to just play your heart out, leave it all on the field. You never know what’s going to happen. At the end of the day, just know that if something happens, you played your hardest.” “(Training camp) was a long, tough experience. It was a grind, but it was good. I’m happy I made it through. Hopefully, I get a couple more in. I’m just ready to tackle the season now…I’m thankful for the coaches putting me out there in different situations and allowing me to showcase some of my talents.” DE DeMarcus Ware On returning to AT&T Stadium as a visitor for the first time: “It’s just different. When you’re used to going into a stadium for at least five years and play for a team for nine years, you get accustomed to games. For the first time, going into the stadium to play the opposing team, which is the team you played with for so long (is different).” On why he signed with the Broncos: “At the end of the day, it was a business decision for me to play with the Denver Broncos. I enjoy playing for the Denver Broncos organization. But it was also great to just see a lot of my old teammates and talk to a lot of people that you have old acquaintances with.” On if Tony Romo is on his list of quarterbacks he wants to sacks: “I wouldn’t say he’s the most wanted, but if we had to play the Cowboys, I would try (to sack him). Any quarterback we play on any week is always the opponent.” On if he’s ready for his first season with the Broncos: “When you think about OTA’s and minicamp and going through training camp, it’s the last game to close things out and get ready for the regular season. Everybody is excited for it.” DT Mitch Unrein On recording a sack: “I thought I had a safety, but a sack is fine with me. That doesn’t come around too often with me. I just have to work on my sack dance because I didn’t have anything planned. It always seems like I get up, point around and run to the sideline.” On the defense stepping up in this game: Denver Broncos Postgame Quotes Page 2 “We had a lot of young guys down on the depth chart that stepped up. We played the way we were supposed to play. Go out there, everyone do your assignment and fly to the ball.” On if he thinks he’s going to make the final roster: “I just came out here tonight and tried to leave it all on the field. I know I can play in this league. If it’s for the Broncos, that would be great. I feel like wherever it’s at, I hope I can contribute.” DT Kevin Vickerson On how he felt he performed: “I’m just trying to play hard and show that I still got it. I’m showing that I can still play this game at a high level. I’m just trying to seize the moment. They asked me to play, so I played. I’m just doing what’s asked of me. We’ll see what happens.” On why he was able to make an immediate impact when he got on the field: “I’m just trying to play hard. That’s all I can do. That’s all I can control, my effort, my attention to detail and my technique. That’s all I can do.” On playing through injury: “My body feels great. I’m not having issues with the hip. I’m not having issues with anything. All extremities are good. I’m just trying to put it all back together like it was before. All I can do is take it game by game and take in these practices and try to strive for better in practice.” On the depth on the defensive line: “Competition brings out the best in us. A lot of good plays are made by the defensive line. Everybody played hard, and that’s all you can ask for. At the end of the day, play hard and lay it out on the line.”
