DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (11/4/15)
DEFENSIVE END DEREK WOLFE
On being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
“I'm happy about it, but it is time to move on to the next team. I'm done thinking about the Packers. [I am] thinking about the
Colts right now.”
On the defensive line being able provide pressure from the inside and outside
“When you've got guys like [OLB] DeMarcus [Ware] and [OLB] Von [Miller], they draw a lot of attention. It gives us opportunities
inside to get push. As long as we're getting pushed, those guys are going to get the quarterback on the ground. That's really
important.”
On if the playoff loss last year to the Colts provides motivation
“Yeah, that's my motivation. I mentioned that to the defensive line earlier today. I said, 'Don't forget. These guys knocked us out
of the playoffs last year, so don't sleep on them.’”
On using the playoff loss to the Colts as motivation rather than downplaying it
“Anytime a team beats you in the playoffs, the next time you get to play them, it's important because you've got something to
prove. [Colts QB] Andrew Luck is a great quarterback. It doesn't matter if they've switched offensive coordinators or not. When
you've got a great player like that, and he's got a great supporting around him—the receivers are good, the offensive line is doing
a decent job, [Colts RB] Frank Gore is doing a decent job—we've just got to shut that run game down, get after the quarterback
and everything will be alright.”
On if Luck looks like he is playing injured when looking at film
“Andrew Luck? No, I think he's a tough guy. I don't think he's going to show an injury, even if he does have one.”
On how Defensive Line Coach Bill Kollar has made him a better player
“He's made me better in so many different aspects as far as hustle, using my hands more, getting my hips turned—I'm not going
to give away all my secrets, but he's taught me a lot of different things. He's good at taking a guy, figuring out what he's good at
and forcing him to do those things.”
On if he thinks the team has embraced the 'kicking and screaming' attitude
“Absolutely. I think this team has embraced the fact that every week they're going to say we're underdogs, which makes no
sense to me, but I like it. We like being the underdog. We're going to come out. It puts a chip on our shoulder and we play even
harder.”

On if he was surprised to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Week without recording a sack
“Anytime I don't get a sack, I don't think I had a good game. Sacks aren't rolling around as much as they used to anymore with
[OLB] DeMarcus [Ware] and [OLB] Von [Miller] and [DE] Malik [Jackson] and Shaq [OLB Shaquil Barrett] now. They are so many
guys that can rush the passer that it's almost like, even if you do have a good rush, it's not good enough because they're just a
little bit faster. I embrace that role as being the guy that if they're going to run the ball at me, it's going to be a long day. I
appreciate that. I thank the Green Bay Packers for trying to run the ball at me.”
On preparing for a mobile quarterback like Luck
“The thing about Andrew Luck is he's strong. He's big and strong. He's hard to bring down. You have to get population to him. If
one guy gets him wrapped up, you've got to get everybody to him to get him to the ground.”
On the importance of getting to the quarterback, even if it's not a sack
“That's important. I think on the first drive, I put a good hit on him [Packers QB Aaron Rodgers]. After watching the TV copy, he
got up a little bit slow. I think that had a big impact. DeMarcus hit him a few times. We were all over him the whole game. Think
about that in the back of your head—thinking about guys coming after you trying to kill you. It's going to mess with your game a
little bit.”
