Assessment against the standard must take place before the expiry date set out below. Expiry date 31 December 2011 Date version published 17 December 2010 This achievement standard involves knowledge of basic body structure and function related to the performance of physical activity. Achievement Criteria Achievement Achievement with Merit Describe how body structure and function are related to the performance of physical activity. Achievement with Excellence Explain how/why body structure and function are related to the performance of physical activity. Explain in detail how/why body structure and function are related to the performance of physical activity. Explanatory Notes 1 This achievement standard is derived from Health and Physical Education in the New Zealand Curriculum, Learning Media, Ministry of Education, 1999, and relates to Level 6 Achievement Objectives A2 and B3. 2 It is intended that the student explores knowledge of body structure and function in a physical activity context. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 Number AS90068 Version 3 Page 2 of 3 3 At Level 1, it is expected that teachers will offer a choice of suitable large muscle locomotor-type physical activities to which the knowledge of body structure and function can be applied, eg: game and sport activities involving running, jumping, throwing, catching, striking aquatic activities – swimming, snorkelling, diving, water polo outdoor activities – rock climbing, kayaking, tramping dance, aerobics, poi, haka, gymnastics, weight training. 4 Body structure and function involves how the human body works in relation to physical activity.
