Associate Dean’s Academic Council Meeting Lynn Kelly - Vice Chair of Faculty Senate in Attendance Summary Report: ADAC meeting of November 13rd and November 27rd. By special invitation I attended ADAC’s “Associate Deans Only” meeting, this consists of the Associate Deans and branch campus’s representatives. They were reviewing the new program proposal from the College of Extended Learning’s Creative Media Institute, A Bachelor in Creative Media. The Associate Deans and I brought up issues which need to be addressed before the program can move on. For example since the College of Extended Learning is not an “academic” college there are no provisions for programs residing there and no provisions for faculty who would teach there, no P&T committee. The Creative Media Institute representatives returned to the November 27 meeting and are continuing to find answers to the issues. The faculty senate can expect to review this new program in the spring. Mike Zimmerman attended the November 27 “Extended Group” meeting to answer the Associate Deans questions concerning Banner, many of which I’m sure originated from faculty. Many complaints were focused on the “view” ability of the course schedules. No resolution to this problem as of yet. Another new program from The College of Engineering was introduced at the Extended Group meeting; Information Engineering Technology. The Associate Deans requested more time to review the new program. They will take another look at it during the December 11th meeting and the senate will probably review it in the spring.
