2013 BITUMINOUS STREET PAVING FOREST HILL BOROUGH, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA SCOPE OF WORK 1. ASPHALT MILLING Contractor to remove existing asphalt pavements by milling as directed by Engineering Representative in the field, Contractor shall also remove asphalt wedge curbs as directed, includes dust control and protection of catch basins, includes sweeping, and cost of removal and delivered to the borough’s dump site on Greensburg Pike. 2. CONCRETE MILLING Contractor to remove existing concrete pavement by milling as directed by Engineering Representative in the field, Contractor shall include dust control and protection of catch basins, includes sweeping, cost of removal and disposal and delivered to the borough’s dump site on Greensburg Pike. 3. BASE REPAIR Contractor will saw cut existing asphalt surface, excavate and remove approximately 12” of material, install geotextile fabric, install 8” of 2A Modified Stone and 4” of 25mm Superpave Base Course, PG 64-22. (Excavated material will be disposed at an approved site) 4. CONCRETE BASE REPAIR Contractor to saw cut and remove the existing slab, install 4” of 2A modified and 8” of 25mm Superpave Base Course PG 64-22 complete and in place. (Excavated material will be disposed at an approved site.) 5. CONCRETE CURB REMOVAL Contractor will remove loose or broken concrete curb as directed by Engineering Representative in the field. (Excavated material will be disposed at an approved site.) 19 mm binder will be used to fill in void if necessary before 12” wedge curb is installed. 6. LEVELING ASPHALT Contractor shall supply and install 9.5 mm Superpave Fine Graded Wearing Course Asphalt Mixture Design HMA Fine Graded Wearing Course, PG-64-22, 0.0 to 0.3 ESAL’s including, but not limited to, all edge, surface cleaning, and tack coat, or directed, by Engineering Representative in the field, complete and in place per specification. 7. 2- 1/2” 19 MM SUPERPAVE BINDER COURSE Contractor shall supply and install 2- 1/2” compacted depth of Superpave Binder Course Asphalt Mixer Design HMA Binder Mix Course, PG-64-22, 0.0 to 0.3 ESAL’s including, but not limited to, all edge, surface cleaning and tack coat, complete and in place as per specification. 8. 3” 19 MM SUPERPAVE WEARING COURSE Contractor shall supply and install 3” compacted depth of Superpave Wearing Course Asphalt Mixer Design HMA Wearing Mix Course, PG-64-22, 0.0 to 0.3 ESAL’s including, but not limited to, all edge, surface cleaning and tack coat, complete and in place as per specification. 1 2013 BITUMINOUS STREET PAVING FOREST HILL BOROUGH, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA SCOPE OF WORK 9. WEDGE CURB SUPERPAVE BINDER COURSE Contractor shall supply and install a 6” x 12”± Bituminous Wedge Curb constructed of Superpave Binder Course Asphalt Mixer Design HMA Binder Mix Course, PG-64-22, 0.0 to 0.3 ESAL’s, complete and in place as per specification. (See Wedge Curb Detail) 10. 1-1/2” 9.5 MM SUPERPAVE WEARING COURSE Contractor shall supply and install 1-1/2” compacted depth of Superpave Wearing Course Asphalt Mixture Design HMA Wearing Course, PG-64-22, 0.0 to 0.3 ESAL’s including, but not limited to, all edge, surface cleaning, tack coat, keyways, adjustment to grade with all valve boxes, manholes and inlets required, transition into driveways as needed, driveway transition to include saw cutting or keyway, if required, or directed, by Engineering Representative in the field, complete and in place as per specification. 11. CURB, CENTER LINE, GUTTER SEALING Including cleaning and sealing of the curb, centerline, and gutter line after all paving is complete, the sealing of all inlets, valve boxes, manholes, and keyways both driveway and cartway using AC-20 or equal, complete and in place, as directed by the Engineering Representative. 12. LOOP DETECTOR (REPLACE EXISTING) Contractor shall supply and install a 6’ x 60’ detector complete and in place to the junction box in the sidewalk. Detector, if possible, should be put in the leveling course. Detector wire should be a single conductor, stranded 14 gauge wire with two turns and covered with an approved sealant. 13. WEDGE CURB BACKFILLING Contractor shall supply and install Wedge Curb backfilling as directed by Engineering Representative. Backfilling should consist of top soil, seed and mulch or 2A Modified Stone. 14. SAW CUT AND SEAL Contractor to locate and reference the location of each existing transverse joint after milling, saw cut the new bituminous paving 1-1/2” directly above the referenced joint and seal the reservoir, complete and in place. 15. PIANO KEYS Contractor shall supply and install Thermo-Plastic Paint 24” wide x 8’ long bars with a 6” border at the crosswalk. (see crosswalk detail), complete and in place, as directed by the Engineering Representative. 16. STOP BARS Contractor shall supply and install Thermo-Plastic Paint 24” wide x 12’ long bars complete and in place, as directed by the Engineering Representative in the field. 17. CATCH BASINS Contractor shall supply and install 4’ deep, Type M inlets with bicycle safe grating and steel frame, complete and in place as direct by the Engineering Representative. The cost of connecting the pipe to the new catch basin and connecting to the existing catch basin shall be included with the cost of the pipe. (See Trench Detail) 19. 2” Milling Overlay Contractor shall supply, install, and roll 2” of milling material at the Barclay Street turnaround, complete and in place (milling from this contract can be used) as directed by the Engineering Representative in the field. 3
