Senior Scientist – Bioinformatics La Jolla, CA – (Req Code: 02-0000998) You will focus on opportunities in bioinformatics that arise in the context of analysis and dissemination of molecular information and utilization of this new knowledge in cancer diagnostics. This entails analyzing gene expression data from discovery results and literature to determine relevance; developing and applying statistical methods to correlate molecular data with clinical data; and assisting in the evaluation of third party analytical software/tools. You’ll also participate in the development of algorithms to interpret the results of signature-based diagnostic assays. To qualify, you must have a Ph.D. in biology and 2+ years of experience in bioinformatics as well as a background in gene expression profiling, database design and query and computer programming languages. Knowledge of Oracle database, Perl scripting language, Visual Basic and/or Unix is highly desirable, as is familiarity with Cancer Biology.
