GEOGRAPHY IN THE NEWS ROUND
The 80 questions attached here are of varying degrees of difficulty and cover thematic
as well as regional topics, in many cases both, which have appeared in the news in the
last year. They are provided to allow organisers to construct their own rounds to suit
local circumstances. Answers predominantly require knowledge of location(s).
Abbreviations in brackets after the answers indicate very broad categories which
might aid selection of the final 10/20 questions for your own round. The questions
themselves often carry clues to what at first site may appear to be a difficult answer.
Quiz organisers may wish to use the questions to suit local needs: age range, syllabus
topics, perceived degree of difficulty and so on.
