2015 Prom Information Packet
Eternal Elegance
Dear senior/junior student and parent/guardian,
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s Indiana Senior High School Prom, “Eternal
Elegance.” The Grand March will be held on Saturday, May 16 at the high school, with the Prom
to follow at the Indiana Country Club. The After Prom will be held at the high school. All of the
details of the Prom and associated events are explained in this packet – please be sure to
carefully read over each page. After you read through the information, you must completely fill
out and sign the “Prom Information Form and Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Sheet” and
bring it with you when you purchase your Prom ticket.

Sponsors:
Student Government sponsors the Prom, while the Prom Parents’ Committee, a volunteer group,
sponsors the Grand March and After Prom. The Grand March and After Prom are associated
events of the Prom, and are optional, although students are strongly encouraged to attend all
events.

Dinner:
Buffet with the following options: Garden salad, whipped potatoes, fresh seasonal mix,
stuffed chicken, glazed salmon, and pasta primavera. A soda bar will also be available
throughout the evening.
Eligible Guests:
Prom is open to all seniors and juniors from Indiana High School. An Indiana High School
sophomore may only attend if an Indiana High School senior or junior invites him or her.
Students wishing to bring a non-Indiana High School guest must obtain a prior approval
form from the main office and fill it out. Non-Indiana High School guests must be a senior,
junior, or sophomore from another school, or a high school graduate under the age of 21.
The prior approval form requires a copy of photo identification to be submitted if the guest
is a high school graduate. The form must then be submitted to Mr. Bertig in room 114 for
approval, and then to the main office for approval from Mr. McElheny or Ms. Eisenman.
Students will not be permitted to buy a Prom ticket for a non-Indiana High School guest
until the guest is approved to attend Prom. Students bringing an outside guest must then
purchase their tickets from the main office.
Cost:
$140 per couple, $70 per single. The ticket price includes the Grand March, Prom, and After
Prom. Checks are preferred for payment. Make all checks payable to “Indiana Senior High
School.”
Ticket Sales:
Tickets will be sold outside of the cafeteria during lunch from Monday, April 20 through
Wednesday, April 22. No tickets will be sold after Wednesday, April 22. Students bringing
a non-Indiana High School guest must purchase their tickets from the main office. All
students must submit a “Prom Information Form and Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement
Sheet” that is signed by a parent or guardian at the time of ticket purchase. Tickets cannot
be sold without the form being signed. No refunds will be given after April 22.
Table Seating:
Table sign-ups will occur on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28. Table sign-ups are
first come, first served. Consecutively numbered tables are not guaranteed to be near each
other in the ballroom.
Grand March:
The Prom Parents’ Committee will release information regarding Grand March at a later date.
Generally, juniors have earlier Grand March times, and seniors have later times.
Travel:
Buses will be provided in order to transport students from the senior high to the Prom, and from
the Prom back to the senior high. Buses will be assigned. Students who are not attending the
Grand March must report to the senior high by 5:30 pm to board the buses. Students are not
permitted to drive themselves to and from the Prom or After Prom, and are not permitted to
leave the Prom early.
After Prom:
Students attending the After Prom may bring a change of clothes with them in a bag to the high
school when they report for Grand March or Prom. Clothes should be brought to the upper
commons. Clothes will then be left in locked classrooms until the students return for the After
Prom. As the students return for the After Prom, they may change their clothes in the
classrooms. The Prom Parents’ Committee will then collect all formal clothes. Students may
then pick up their clothes following the After Prom. The After Prom will consist of a variety of
activities, games, and food. Students are not permitted to leave the After Prom early, unless
they are picked up by a parent or guardian.
Regulations:
1. All school rules and regulations are in effect for the Prom and associated events.
2. Applicable school dance guidelines are in effect for the Prom.
3. The Prom is a formal affair. Gentlemen are expected to wear a tuxedo, or suit and
tie. Ladies are expected to wear dresses. Students in attire that is deemed to be
too revealing or inappropriate by Mr. McElheny, Ms. Eisenman, or Mr. Bertig may be
sent home from the Prom.
4. Students who are attending the After Prom will return to the high school and remain
there for After Prom. Students who are declining to attend the After Prom must
immediately depart from the high school.
5. Students who are attending the After Prom must stay until 5:00 am. The only
exception is if a student’s parent or guardian picks him or her up. At 5:00 am,
students may drive themselves home.
6. Any student or guest suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or any other
drug will be detained while his or her parents and the State Police are notified.
7. Students attending the Prom must attend school or the senior class trip on Friday,
May 15.
8. Students are not permitted to leave school early for Prom-related appointments.
9. Indiana Area School District reserves the right to conduct safety screenings prior to
and/or during the Grand March, Prom, and After Prom. Safety screenings may
consist of the use of metal detectors and metal detecting wands.

Please note that state and local police enforce the 11 pm curfew for students with
junior driver’s licenses, regardless of the fact that students attended the Prom.
Therefore, students with junior driver’s licenses who are not attending the After
Prom should take that into consideration.

Packet and understand the requirements for attending Prom.
I will ensure that my son or daughter takes any necessary emergency medication (i.e., EPI-Pen,
asthma inhaler, or a form of glucose) to the Prom and associated events. If my son or daughter is
taking an EPI-Pen, he or she will inform the supervisors where the EPI-Pen will be located (i.e., bag,
purse, or pocket). I understand that the supervisors may dial “911” to seek assistance as needed
during medical emergencies.

The Prom Parents’ Committee sponsors the After Prom. If your son or daughter has any medical
concerns or other needs that you wish to share with the Prom Parents’ certified nurse in case of a
medical emergency, please e-mail School Nurse Susan Zundel at szundel@iasd.cc. She will then seal
all medical concerns in an envelope that will only be opened by the Prom Parents’ certified nurse in
case of an emergency at the After Prom.
