Summary:
A course for literacy and library co-ordinators, class teachers and TAs on
enhancing enthusiasm for reading at key stages 1 and 2. We will focus on
practical strategies for promoting reading enjoyment across the whole
curriculum, in the classroom, the library and beyond, and for developing
the reading ethos and culture in schools.

A course for literacy and library co-ordinators, class teachers and TAs on enhancing enthusiasm
for reading at key stages 1 and 2. We will focus on practical strategies for promoting reading
enjoyment across the whole curriculum, in the classroom, the library and beyond, and for
developing the reading ethos and culture in schools.

more awareness of latest research and current DfE and Ofsted thinking on reading
successful ways to encourage reading for pleasure in the classroom and beyond
methods for exploiting cross-curricular opportunities and the creative curriculum
new ideas for fostering reading enjoyment through the library and book corners
extra strategies for exploiting books and other materials effectively
greater knowledge of appropriate resources for encouraging reading
ideas for supporting parents and carers and for family literacy
Cost: £100 (inc. lunch)
The course will be led by Anne Harding or is an independent trainer. She specialises in children’s
and school libraries and children’s and young people’s reading. Westminster Schools Library
Service has used Anne extensively in the past.
