Project: Biomes Presentation

For this project, you will be working by yourself or with a partner and studying a biome in detail
to present to the class. The project is worth 100 points.
1. Determine the characteristics of the biome.
a. General climate (temperature, precipitation)
b. General latitude (geological distribution)
c. Approximate earth coverage
d. Typical flora and fauna
e. Typical soil type
f. Human impacts
2. Create or find a map that illustrates the worldwide distribution of your biome.
a. Use a bright color key to identify your biome
b. Label the equator and the tropics
3. Find the common and/or scientific names of at least 10 animals in your biome.
Determine if the animal is a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore.
4. Find or create pictures of the five dominant species in your biome (plant or animal).
5. Create a food web using the plants and animals (and pictures) that you have found.
6. Create a climatogram for your chosen biome. This is a graph of the average monthly
rainfall and temperatures within rainfall as a bar graph and temperature as a line graph.
7. Create an oral presentation that relays the above information to the class. PowerPoint
may be used.
8. Make sure that you have a visual component for each of the above items.
