Anger Therapy Support Group
Dates offered:
$600 OR $60 / session
January 22 – March 26, 2015
Ten Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Catholic Social Services East
Office (8212 – 118 Avenue in Room 035).
Anger is often understood as a negative emotion, one that we are meant to control. Anger as an
emotion, however, is not necessarily wrong. It is how we express this anger that can often lead
to negative experiences, hurting ourselves, our relationships and others. Anger is often linked to
the way one thinks, perceive situations and react. Gaining awareness about one’s anger can
provide opportunity to fully understand one’s self and one’s interactions with others. The goal of
this group is to provide support, self-awareness, and strategies to understand and express
feelings of anger in a healthy way. Strategies used include group exercises, supportive
interactions, and homework assignments based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and
Mindfulness theories.
There is a maximum of 10 clients and a minimum of 6 clients in the group. Registration is
required. Upon initial contact, the client will be given an appointment with the Counsellor
Facilitator to determine suitability into the group.
The full cost of the group is $600 or $60 per session (includes the screening session). It is NOT
a drop-in group but a commitment to the full 10 sessions (closed group). The $60 per session is
for pre-approved payment plans only. The Counsellor Facilitator is a Registered Provisional
Psychologist in which receipts will be provided in order for one to access Extended Health
Benefits (e.g. Blue Cross, Standard Life, Great West Life, etc.) for reimbursement.
Counsellor Facilitator: Jill Storcer, Registered Provisional Psychologist #1102p. Jill has been
working in the area of anger management for 6 years now, including co-facilitating therapy
groups. She has concentrated her practice on issues of relationships, anger and managing
emotions, dealing with symptoms of depression and anxiety and moving through the grieving
process. Jill’s approach to therapy is based in Client Centred Theory and Cognitive Behavioural
