Dear Project Facilitator, Thank you for volunteering your time to serve as a Project Facilitator for Senior Project. This Project provides seniors with a real world experience, one that they are passionate about and one that they link to a career, as they journey into a topic of their choice. Throughout the year, they pursue this “learning stretch” as they complete each of the four components of the Project: a research paper, a tangible product, a portfolio, and a culminating presentation in May - Senior Boards. The role of a Project Facilitator is to provide the student with the skills/knowledge necessary to satisfy the required “learning stretch.” This journey ultimately enables students to create a tangible, challenging, and quality Product, one worthy of the time and effort they invested. Students present their Project Facilitator with a Proposal outlining what they hope to accomplish, how they hope to accomplish it, the skills/knowledge they intend to acquire, and the projected cost. They are responsible for initiating their own journey and actively seeing it through until completion. Once the Project Facilitator and the student have agreed to this plan/schedule, the role of Project Facilitator is to: enable the student to create a challenging yet achievable Product through the skills/knowledge he/she acquires in satisfying the “learning stretch.” guide, encourage, and oversee the student during the process. verify the time student spends on his or her fieldwork. (Students are required to devote a minimum of 15 hrs on their product.) The Project Facilitator will also sign the student’s Product Work Log verifying time spent and progress made during each of the four designated dates for progress checks. A separate verification form will be mailed to the Project Facilitator upon completion of the Product. Due dates are assigned by each teacher, so you will need to consult your student for those dates. We appreciate your willingness to assist this student in his or her fieldwork. If at any time problems or questions arise, please contact your student’s Senior Project teacher at Polaris Evening Program 770-926-1662 (English Dept.) or through his or her email. Once again, thank you so much for supporting the Senior Project. Sincerely, Senior Project teachers Polaris Evening Program
