April 2008
Well, Spring has sprung as they say. The daffodils are in bloom only to be followed by more
Spring showers for those beautiful May flowers.
Things are busy at the club. Back by request,
is back. Yep, the popular deal of the week on Thursday nights has returned. Couple this with a .75 cent draft at the bar overlooking our marina and the Choptank River is definitely the best deal in town. Speaking of the marina, it won’t be long now when the many boats will be uncovered and coming out of mothballs so to speak once again filling our marina. We still have slips available. If you desire infonnation on getting one of our slips, call the Fleet Captain
or the Club office at 410-228-2141.
I announced at the annual membership meeting in February that the club would be featuring
“outside dining” later this year. Now that we have the tables and chairs in place along with the little lights on the trellis, Kitty says on those spring days that it’s warm enough, just ask to be seated outside. We are all anxious to try this out. So be one of the first to enjoy the new outside dining.
The
Governors has approved special membership pricing which is still available through the end of May for residents of Dorchester, Talbot, Caroline and Wicomico Counties.
The special price for initiation is
during this time. So, if you know of someone you would like to see as a member, why not invite them to be a member. Don’t forget first line sponsors receive a $15 credit toward your monthly statement. Any questions regarding membership can be forwarded to the Membership Chair Anne Hurley.
Coming up in April will be the Miss CYC pageant on April 19th• This is always an enjoyable evening so be sure not to miss it. Also, you won’t want to miss the special entertainment that our
Entertainment Chair
has arranged for us on April 25th• We will have the Joe
Martone Trio offering fine entertainment for us on that evening. So be sure to call now to reserve your table for both of these most enjoyable events.
Be sure to take notice of the schedule of events that follow at the end of this letter. As we add events, I will be sure to update the schedule so you can plan ahead.
I mentioned in my February letter that yacht club member Ed Mifier is planning a vacation cruise in early 2009. Ed now has more information on this and would like to hear from other yacht club members who maybe interested in going. So give him a call at 410-221-1312 to start making plans to travel “someplace warm” next winter.
Finally, the Power House Gym in the Cambridge Plaza has contacted me to offer Cambridge
Yacht Club members special pricing. It’s still not too late to lose the weight. So stop in and mention you are a CYC member and ask for the special pricing.
So until my next letter, I hope to see you at club enjoying the fme dinning that only Kitty and
can provide. And while you’re at the club, be sure to ask
to make you one of her delicious specialty drinks that only she can do.
Have fun at the Club,
Edwin C. Kinnamon
