Mayor Schultz reported:

Gate entry systems, activated by sirens and handheld devices to open them in non emergency situations, were discussed at the President’s meeting. Boynton Beach is looking into grants to assist private associations with the cost.

Cautioned about Facebook pages for public officials as it is difficult to maintain compliance with Florida’s public records and sunshine requirements when comments are posted by officials.

Wind Turbines to supplement an individual home’s energy needs are being encouraged around the country. Mayor Schultz questioned if an ordinance is needed to address such installations as there can be noise associated with them. Mr. Rubin said he would look into it.

Solid Waste Authority tipping fees are being increased to $144 per ton. This will impact our

Waste Management fees.

Sizable budget restrictions are anticipated for the 2010 fiscal year. Millage rates can be raised to generate the same revenue as this year to compensate for lower property values.

Mayor Schultz thanked Jim Page, 170 Neptune Drive, for the photo presentation that he made this evening prior to the meeting.

Happy Birthday to Len Rubin
