headline, author(s), address(es), text, maximum up
to 200 words. Please send diskette 3.5” with the
abstract file and two copies. Deadline for
submission of abstracts is 30 June 2003.

However, the number of oral presentations is
limited. Thus, the final decision is on the Scientific
Committee after reviewing of abstracts.

The main stimulus for the Macedonian
Ecological Society to organize the Second
Congress of the Ecologists of the Republic of
Macedonia, was the need for following the
achievements of ecology in Macedonia and the
other countries in the region, and the need for
exchange of experience and knowledge as well as
the increased interest in the conditions of the
environment and the interest of scientists and
experts, but also the general public interest in
better, cleaner and healthier environment.
The proportionally small scientific community
in Macedonia needs organization of a joint
congress of basic ecology and environmental
science.
The Congress will present the knowledge of the
modern basic ecology and environmental science
accumulated recently. That is the reason why the
papers at the Congress will be presented through
different thematic sections. Each section will start
by presenting case studies chosen by the Scientific
Committee from the proposed papers. Apart from
this, plenary sessions, prepared by eminent
ecologists from Macedonia and other countries
will present the achievements of modern ecology.

The Congress will be held in Hotel Desaret on
the coast of Ohrid Lake, 13 km from Ohrid city.
The fee for one day accommodation is about 25-30
EUR. More detailed information will be given in
Second Announcement.
The Proceedings of the Congress will be published
in December, 2003. Instructions for preparation of
articles will be disseminated in Second
Announcement (in July, 2003).
