We would like to welcome you to the 2012 ESCAPE THE ROCK Wrestling Tournament! Escape the
Rock is quickly becoming one of the premier regional events of the season. The 2011 tournament was
again a huge success that featured 7 eventual State Champions, 47 state place winners, 81 state
qualifiers and 4 National Prep place winners. There are several team changes since we announced the
field last month, as several teams have withdrawn. Replacing them are four very good teams in David
Brearly from NJ, Smyrna and Salesianum from DE and Forest Park, VA.
This year’s field features of 7 of the top 12 AAA teams and 3 of the top 10 AA teams from the recent
PIAA State Tournament, including the PA State AA Dual Champion, along with three New Jersey
Group State Champion teams and 3 teams that were in the top ten at the Virginia State Tournament.
Headlining the newcomers are PA teams Chambersburg, LaSalle, Westmont Hilltop and Saucon
Valley; New Jersey’s Delbarton and David Brearly; Delaware power Smyrna and Forest Park,
Virginia. Also returning after a hiatus from ETR is PA State Dual runner-up Ft. LeBoeuf. With such a
deep and competitive field, the 2012 tournament should provide for a very exciting and action packed
two days of wrestling! We are extremely excited to be hosting what we feel will be an outstanding
showcase of competition and talent. On January 13th & 14th, 2012, thirty-two teams and over 400
wrestlers will converge in the Golden Hawk Arena at Council Rock South High School and battle to
see who can “ESCAPE THE ROCK” with a custom Championship Belt!

AWARDS
A custom Championship Belt will again serve as the award for the champion
in each weight class. Awards will also be given for 2nd through 8th place.
Team scoring will be kept and awards presented for 1st through 3rd place. An
“Outstanding Wrestler” will be voted on and awarded. There will also be a
“Most Falls” (in the least amount of time) award.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS
We will be negotiating rates at local hotels and block a large number of
rooms at each. These hotels are approximately 15-20 minutes from the
school. All hotel information will be included in the September newsletter.
DINING INFORMATION
We will provide a “Dining Package” for everyone. This will include info and
directions for most restaurants within a short distance of the school. This
package will be part of our final pre-tournament newsletter that will come
out in mid December and will also be in the tournament program book.
TOURNAMENT PROGRAM BOOK
We will be putting together an event program book. This will include team
bios, provided by each coach. We would also like to spotlight the “feature”
wrestlers from each team, including their high school wrestling
accomplishments to date. We will need this information in early December.
Each team/booster club can also place an ad in the tournament program $50 for ½ page or $100 for a full page. If you wish to submit an ad, please
contact the tournament director.
ONLINE COVERAGE
We will be providing tournament coverage online during the event. There
will be a web link for fans who can’t attend to follow the action.
