Reading & Spelling Homework Contract
1. I will read 30 minutes each night. I can choose any book I like on my level, but
I must read at least 2 AR books per quarter.
2. I will correctly log my reading each night in my Reading & Spelling Notebook.
(Example is in my notebook.)
3. I will write a reading response 3 nights per week in my notebook. My reading
response should be 5-8 complete sentences with correct conventions.
4. I will draw one picture per week of what I have read.
5. I will turn in a total of 4 items on Friday, but reading homework will be
checked every day in class.
1. I will get a new list of spelling words each week. The homework for each night
will be explained on the back.
2. I will complete homework for each night in my Reading & Spelling Notebook.
3. On Thursday’s, when I complete my practice test at home, I must write all of
my words and check over them myself OR I must have someone call them
out to me and initial beside of the words “Out loud” in my Reading & Spelling
Notebook.
4. I will turn in a total of 4 spelling assignments on Friday.
I understand that homework is a valuable part of my education. It is a way to review
and practice what I have learned in class and it is also a way to make me a better
reader! I will complete my homework EVERY night unless there are extreme
circumstances. If I do not complete both parts of my homework, I will pull my pin and
follow through with my consequences. I will not be allowed to turn in homework that
is more than 2 weeks late for credit in the future. By signing the bottom line, I am
acknowledging that I understand what is expected of me.
