Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

Founded in 1956, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) is one of the earliest established institutions of TCM in China. It is a national key university directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, and the only TCM institution that is incorporated into the “211 Project” in China.

The BUCM’s idea of running school is to train medical professionals with knowledge of both Chinese and western medicine, the ability to meet with the development of modern science and to satisfy the requirements of health of human-beings. There are 12 schools, and 3 affiliated hospitals in BUCM, offering 9 undergraduate programs, 16 master degree programs, 15 doctoral degree programs.

BUCM began to accept international students in 1957. Up to now, it has trained 13,000 TCM professionals from

87 countries and areas. At present, 10,568 full-time students are studying in BUCM, of whom overseas students account for 20%. BUCM has developed into an international university.
