Utilize dental websites or purchase the recommended texts at pls.org. The goal is to have each course participant practice various clinical skills, performing standard of care, using professional judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking. PLS also aims for course participants to practice ergonomics. Please review the course objectives to determine the full scope of the program. During lab and clinical practice sessions, the group will be divided into teams and or partners with an instructor and room assignment. Throughout the course, the instructors will work with different teams or stay with the same team depending on circumstances, assessed needs and expertise. Shared Patient Practice Some course participants will be paired up to share a patient. Each instructor will stay with one team during a session. Patient treatment will be assigned the UR & LL and UL & LR quads. Some course participants may have extensive experience and feel comfortable to practice independently and others may need close supervision. Some participants may want to spend more type with instrumentation on models before seeing a patient. The instructor’s will identify the participant’s needs for specific attention at the course and assign skills accordingly. 7
