WHAT IS THE PITCH?









The Pitch is CIM’s national student competition designed to give marketing students a real life
marketing pitch experience.
The competition is aimed at students in higher education universities and further education colleges.
Predominantly aimed at university students, any higher/further education student in full-time
education can enter.
Thousands of students from 130 UK universities across the British Isles and Republic of Ireland will
be targeted.
Students submit online applications with video footage of their pitch, before the panel of judges
shortlist up to five finalist teams for the live event.
Students enter in teams of three. Approximately 60 teams are expected to enter.
The live event will take place between February and March of 2015.
On top of being crowned the winners of The Pitch 2015, the winning team will be recognised at
CIM’s Marketing Excellence Awards as ‘Marketers of the Future’.
Last year’s sponsor was Mars Petcare.

March 2015 – Winning team recognised at The Marketing Excellence Awards TBC

WHAT ARE SPONSORS OBLIGATIONS?





The brief – Based on sponsor’s product range, this can be a fixed product or an option of 2 to 3.
Venue – Sponsors usually host the event at their offices to help create a real life pitch environment.
Live event date – (Dependent on venue availability but must be within a 6 week timeframe before
The Marketing Excellence Awards).
Two judges – Two judges are required for the shortlisting in January and the live event.
Prize(s) – At the sponsors discretion and not compulsory, this could range from product giveaways
to work experience or employment opportunities. (CIM will also be contributing to the prize).
