St Marks Core Beliefs
We believe the identity of God as one living and true God, everlasting and without end,
of infinite power, revealed to us in the Trinity, three persons of one substance—the
Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, His teachings, His sacrifice on the cross,
which secures our salvation and in His resurrection that reveals God’s excelling love for
the world
We believe the Bible as the Word of God written by people under the inspiring work of
the Holy Spirit
We believe in worship as a practice that honors God and expresses our love and
devotion to God by the utilization of diverse talents
We believe in prayer for it affirms our dependence on God and draws us individually
and collectively closer to God.
We believe all people as being wonderfully created by God and we desire to help them
understand the everlasting love of God
We believe in disciple-making as spiritual growth and maturity under the direction of the
Holy Spirit equipping every believer for the ministry of Christ in transforming the world
We believe in mission and good works, global and local, as an expression of God’s love
in our lives and as an extension of God’s love to the world around us
We believe the celebration of Baptism as an outward sign of inclusion into the body of
Christ and an expression of God’s mighty act of salvation
We believe in the celebration of Holy Communion and the practice of an “open-table”
inviting all people seeking a deeper relationship with God through Christ
We believe in the church, universal and local, and understand its existence to fulfill the
coming of God’s Kingdom
