IMPORTANT AGREEMENT Student leaders are high schoolers who choose to share God’s love with middle school high kids as well as peers. Student leadership offers a great opportunity for a person to grow in his/her faith while investing in relationships and planning programs for younger friends. Student leaders are expected to be involved in their own Young Life high school activities and encouraged to seek growth in their own spiritual life through involvement in a local church. Young Life is visible throughout the community. The actions of a student leader not only reflect Young Life, but the entire Christian community. Therefore, Young Life has high expectations of the conduct of its student leaders: A student leader must not participate in illegal activity, including the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. A student leader may not enter into a counseling relationship with a middle school/junior high student of the opposite gender. A student leader may not date a middle school/junior high student nor be in a car alone with a student of the opposite gender. A student leader must maintain appropriate behavior in personal relationships, including abstaining from the intimate sexual contact reserved for marriage. A student leader’s language and actions should be consistent with the teachings of Christ. A student leader is considered a Young Life volunteer; therefore, a criminal background check will be performed by Young Life to ensure the safety of the leaders and the kids they work with. Note to parents: Young Life is a not-for-profit, international Christ-centered organization with ministries throughout the world.
