DERRY VISITOR & CONVENTION BUREAU BUSINESS & CULTURAL ANIMATION PROGRAMME Invitation to Tender: The provision of a tourism business entrepreneurial programme, to provide business mentoring within the Tourism Sector. Closing Date: 12 noon, Friday 29th June 2007 Background The Business and Cultural Animation Programme is an element of the Walled City Signature Project as designated by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. The Programme aims to animate the “Walled City of Derry” thus increasing footfall and providing an attractive, lively and entertaining environment for tourists and residents alike. Derry Visitor & Convention Bureau alongside a number of key organisations within the city has formed a steering group to direct and manage this programme until March 2008. Project Brief Applications are sought from companies who can complete the following: Action1: Delivery of tourism business entrepreneurial programme Aim: The aim of the Programme is to ‘encourage economic regeneration by stimulating private sector investment in the provision and upgrading of tourist amenities and through diversifying to create new sustainable tourism enterprises’. Outputs: The proposed programme is intended to provide business mentoring to organisations involved within the tourism industry. The programme also aims to assist all other organisations that are involved indirectly in the tourist trade such as retail organisations selling tourist specific products relating to Derry City. The main outputs of the programme will be: To improve the economic development of the region; To improve the tourism sector in the north west; To create new tourism enterprises To increase the level of expenditure in tourism in the north west; To increase the numbers of tourists coming to the north west region and specifically Derry city; To develop Derry as a regional city and economic hub for the north west; To increase the number of businesses operating within the tourism sector in Derry; To increase the long-term sustainability of start up and existing business in the tourism sector in Derry. Terms of Reference The selected company will be required to liaise with Derry Visitor & Convention Bureau on their project plan, providing details of timings, scheduling, costings and relevant contacts. Timescales and Deliverables A detailed timetable of activities must be included in the tender, highlighting the projected duration and evidence of local needs analysis. Project Proposal Tender proposals should detail the following: Name of company Business mentoring approach Duration & suggested timetable Details of any relevant experience Finance Project Management Regular liaising with DVCB Companies will be required to supply DVCB with accurate figures and reports for each stage of the process.
