Job Title: Supervisor: Salary: FSLA Job Status: Social Worker (LCSW) Director of Program Operations DOE Full-time/exempt POSITION SUMMARY: This position is a highly responsible position that will create and implement an Alaska Native Unit within the Anchorage Child Advocacy Center (CAC), Alaska CARES. The position requires close collaboration between ANJC and the CAC in year one and maintain on-going working relationship. Will provide direct and indirect services to child/ren victims of abuse and the non-offending caregiver. Position will supervise the ANJC Advocate Case Manager at the CAC. TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the creation and implementation of the Alaska Native Unit in concert with ANJC, Alaska CARES and the CAC Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) as determined through mutual assessment. Assist in the development of protocols and practices that reflect Alaska Native cultural. Assist in the development of training materials and delivery of training reflective of Alaska Native culture in the delivery of services to child/ren victims of abuse and the non-offending caregiver. Practice as an interdependent member of the CAC Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and provide important components of Alaska Native/American Indian care through direct social work services, consultation, collaboration, referral, teaching, and advocacy. Assess and treat clients individually and family modalities exercising mature professional judgment utilizing a wide range of social work skills to include individual and family counseling to assist clients and their families in dealing with child abuse. (Because these are Mental Health services, separate files should be kept. In general the Team can share with the therapist, but the therapist doesn’t share unless it is danger to self etc.) Provide counseling to clients and family in matters directly related to clients limitations and adjustment to trauma. With the MDT, develop follow-up care and linkages to other care providers in rural communities. Provide consultation to MDT staff regarding Alaska Native cultural and services to Alaska Native clients. Develop and maintain working relationships with the MDT and representatives of rural communities for the benefit of services to the client and the family. Take the initiative to seek out opportunities to present, train and inform the MDT and rural CAC in educational supports to clients. Coordinates with the ANJC Director of Program Operations, ANJC Advocate Case Manager and CAC Manager in the compiling of client data. Assists in the preparation of training materials and reports as needed; gathers necessary information and materials to complete these tasks. Attend bi-monthly MDT meetings to discuss cases and case management services provided. Other duties as assigned. ANJC Social Worker (LCSW) 2009 1 SKILLS/ABILITIES: Background and experience working with child/ren victims and their caregiver, especially in the area of assessment and treatment of specialized trauma focused mental health services. Deal effectively with a variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment and poise. Incumbent should have the diplomatic skills to work effectively and efficiently a as a team member under stressful situations. Able to work on multiple tasks, be self motivated and able to deal with fast paced, diverse, and results oriented environment. Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft office applications. Demonstrates personal and interpersonal qualities that support the Core Values of Providence Health & Services and adheres to the standards of the National Children’s Alliance for Children’s Advocacy Centers. Experience/knowledge of child protection system recommended. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Social Work A minimum of 2 years post-masters experience as a clinical social worker (I don’t think you need this in here, to get a license it takes at least 2 years of supervision) Current unrestricted license to practice independently as a Clinical Social worker Experience working with Alaska Native children and families. Knowledge of Alaska Native and/or community resources with demonstrated experience working with Alaska Native people and an understanding of their values and belief systems and the ability to provide culturally competent services.
