West Los Angeles College Transfer Honors Program WLAC Transfer Honors Program provides guaranteed priority admission to selected prestigious four-year institutions. The Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) is in partnership with UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz, Pomona, Occidental, Chapman, Pepperdine and other alliance universities. Students who meet the scholar’s requirements receive priority consideration for admission to the above mentioned fouryear institutions. To qualify for the program • You must be eligible for English 101 through assessment or have completed English 28 at West Los Angeles College (or equivalent at other institution) with a grade of “A”. • Your grade point average (GPA) should include 12 transfer credit units, in the LACCD, with at least a “B” average. High School students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA in college prep courses. • If you have met the above requirements, complete the application on the reverse side. • Attach your West Los Angeles College unofficial transcript or official High School transcript, and essay to the application. • The Transfer Honors Program Director will then notify you of your status, after reviewing your application materials. To remain in the program • Maintain at least a 3.2 GPA in all transfer course work. • Enroll in at least one or two courses with an Honors component per semester. • Meet with the Transfer Honors Counselor each semester to review educational study plan. • Attend regularly scheduled transfer meetings and workshops organized by the director. • Complete English 101 within the first year of the program. *Since Honors course work will require a heavy amount of writing, critical thinking and research, students are strongly advised to enroll in Library Science 101, with Professor Ken Lee, before undertaking Honors course work. **Courses must be completed with an “A” or “B” in order to earn honors credit. To compete the program • Complete a minimum of 18 Honors units at West, consisting of five or six designated “Honors Courses”. • Complete courses necessary for transfer as a junior in your major. • Complete a 200 level math course. • Have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA in all course work. • Compete and file an application for admission to your intended transfer University at the appropriate time. • Honors certification on completion of honors transfer courses.
