LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL TITLE: Pan-Hellenic Parking Lot Resolution AUTHORS: Valerie Santoscoy, Ryan Renke, Keely Terrell, Will Tooker NUMBER: SR 56-17 SPONSORS: Valerie Santoscoy, Ryan Renke, Keely Terrell, DATE SUBMITTED: 3/26/09 Will Tooker VOTE: FOR: By Acclamation AGAINST: 0 ABSTAIN: 0 CONFLICT OF INTEREST: 0 NOT PRESENT: 0 Whereas: Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions of students; and Whereas: Student Senate is a means by which student concerns are addressed; and Whereas: Student safety is a concern of the Baylor administration; and Whereas: The presence of uneven surfaces and potholes in the parking lot creates hazards for students with wheelchairs and students who walk as well; and Whereas: The parking lot is used extensively by students throughout the week, and Whereas: The current state of the parking lot presents a significant risk to student’s vehicles as they attempt to enter or exit the parking lot, and Whereas: Correcting the problems of the parking lot are in line with Imperative VIII of the Baylor 2012 Vision that states that the University "will give increased attention to the aesthetic value of the campus […] ensuring that streets, walking plazas, landscaping and works of art form a place that promotes community." Whereas: The parking lots immediately beside the Pan-Hellenic building and honors residential colleges have fallen into disrepair and reflect poorly upon the physical image of Baylor University; and Whereas: Said lots deserve proper and equal maintenance as other lots on campus receive; and Therefore: Be it resolved by the 56th Session of the Baylor University Student Senate assembled that the parking lots near the Pan-Hellenic building and honors residential colleges be repaved in a manner which reflects the beauty of our University.
