Vagahau Niue refers to the Niue language. This unit standard involves written
Vagahau Niue;
Contexts refer to communicative situations, topics and settings appropriate to written

Familiar refers to topics and settings that are within the learner’s personal
experience;
Texts refer to coherent and identifiable pieces of spoken or written communication
that may include authentic or edited texts; for example written texts could include
instructions, explanations, messages, narratives, descriptions, brochures, letters,
articles, publications, announcements, and dialogues;
Main points refer to the objective, intention or the most important ideas in written
texts;
Specific details refer to the smaller parts that support and expand on the main points.

This unit standard requires two written extracts from two texts in Vagahau Niue, of at
least 200 words per extract.

This unit standard requires written responses in culturally authentic Vagahau Niue or
English. Achievement of the evidence requirements allows for minor errors in
grammar and vocabulary, and for village-based language differences in Vagahau
Niue.

Outcomes one and two are to be assessed twice; once for each text. These
assessments may be on two separate occasions.

community appointed experts.
