sexelearning Demo - Text Only Version [Welcome] Welcome to sexelearning, an e-learning programme that will develop your awareness of key issues in sexual health promotion and assist you in delivering consistent sexual health education, advice and support in a manner that positively supports the sexual and emotional health of young people under 25. This programme has been developed in response to needs expressed by a broad range of professionals for improved accessibility to training and professional development in the field of sexual health. One of the key benefits of this programme is that it can be undertaken by you, the learner, at a time and location that suits you best. [Registration & Login] Let’s start by first looking at how you access the Website. The site address is sexelearning.org.uk and after registering with us, you simply type your Username and Password to enter. [Website Structure] Hello there - we are now logged in! The starting point for all activity on the site is this Home page, so let’s look here at how the site is structured into three core areas. [Learn, Share & Support] Learn, Share and Support have been carefully & collectively designed to structure your learning in a step-by-step fashion. [Learn] In the Learn area, you will uncover some of the core concepts of sexual health promotion work, by working through 6 eLearning Modules, which in total will take between 6-8 hours to complete. There is also an Assessment to consolidate your learning and to support your continuing professional development. After successfully completing the Assessment, a Certificate of Completion provides a valuable record of your achievement. [Share] The Share Area then builds on your core learning by connecting you to other professionals. Through the use of these Discussion Fora, it is hoped to provide a platform for open communication and learning between novice and experienced sexual health promotion workers alike. We launched the site with 7 Discussion Areas, but we hope that interest in this part of the site will grow. Accessing one of the Discussion areas is straight forward – let’s look at the Keeping-UpTo-Date Forum. Once inside a discussion area, you can browse through any Topic and its replies using the list provided. Useful information like a count of the number of posts and date of last post make it easy to see the most popular and most frequently visited topics. We hope that this will encourage professionals to visit this area regularly. sexelearning Programme - Demo Page 1 [Support] The Support area contains additional learning resources to support and supplement your learning. This area will be frequently updated to reflect continuing developments in the field of sexual health promotion. The additional learning resources include References, Sexual Health Research, Useful Organisations as well as specific resources for each Module. Remember that the Support area will also be kept up to date with any changes that occur related to best practice and legislation in terms of sexual health promotion. [Learning Content in Detail] So that’s an overview of the three main areas of the Website - Learn, Share and Support, but it’s also now worth taking a closer look at the Modules within the Learn area, designed to accelerate your learning by using exciting and engaging interactive techniques! To ease you into learning, each Module begins by explaining the relevance of the subject. There is always a description of what you will be able to do once you’ve completed the Module – that is the learning outcomes. All of the learning content in a Module is listed in a menu on the left hand side of your page and the Next and Back buttons allow you to work your way through it. As you work through the module, you’ll notice that some of the content is presented using text and graphics. The graphics help to illustrate key concepts in the content, and have been carefully chosen to enhance and accelerate your understanding. Other pages contain more interactive content such as short quizzes which also provide you with supportive feedback. Discovery learning is encouraged by use of conceptual diagrams. We hope this type of interaction could be presented to young people as well as professionals. You can also type your own responses to certain activities, giving you time to reflect on your own life and experiences. Then, at the end of the activity, there is a chance to get further feedback to check your answer. Some Modules present real-life scenarios towards the end to help consolidate and apply your learning in a practical manner. The Save to Portfolio option gives you the chance to save selected key activities for later viewing or printing. Finally, each Module ends with a list of key points summarising the learning. If you want to explore the issues further, there are also recommended Websites and references for each Module in the Support page. sexelearning Programme - Demo Page 2 [Credits] You have just walked through the main features of the sexelearning website.
