BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Performs screening and diagnosis of students. Conduct and write IEP’s for individual students. Provides
classroom educational learning environment using various techniques designed to assist students with
mild to severe learning disabilities. Works with parents, community services and school staff in
developing student learning plans. Able to interpret testing results. Performs general classroom and
school responsibilities. Work in a team teaching situation. Assist in school improvement activities and
sit on various school improvement committees.
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:
Education:
The teacher shall hold a valid North Dakota Educator’s Professional Certificate with a major in the area of Elementary
Education (1-8), with Special Education certification. (Strategist Credential preferred) A Bachelor’s Degree with a
minimum of 24 semester hours in Education courses is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours must be in
Elementary Education to qualify for an elementary positon.
In addition, applicate will have 12 semester hours of course work in the particular area of specialization (Special
Education). All professional educator must meet the certification standards for the position in the State where the
position is located. A valid state driver’s license may be required for some positions and must be maintained when
required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires normal physical activity with the work, field travel, and
attendance at meetings and conferences from the duty station. The work also requires lifting hardware and
peripheral equipment, and cables. On-site field service involves operation of motor vehicles, which requires
possession of current State Driver’s license.
BASIS OF RATING: Applicants will be rated on the extent and quality of their experience and training, based on
their qualification statements, and any other required information. Salary increments will based on education
credentials and experience. Appropriate experience is credible whether gained in Federal, State, or Local
Government.
SUITABILITY & CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
A background security investigation is required. Appointment is subject to the successful completion of the security
investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
