BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Performs screening and diagnosis of students. Conduct and write IEP’s for individual students. Provides classroom educational learning environment using various techniques designed to assist students with mild to severe learning disabilities. Works with parents, community services and school staff in developing student learning plans. Able to interpret testing results. Performs general classroom and school responsibilities. Work in a team teaching situation. Assist in school improvement activities and sit on various school improvement committees. BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS: Education: The teacher shall hold a valid North Dakota Educator’s Professional Certificate with a major in the area of Elementary Education (1-8), with Special Education certification. (Strategist Credential preferred) A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in Education courses is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours must be in Elementary Education to qualify for an elementary positon. In addition, applicate will have 12 semester hours of course work in the particular area of specialization (Special Education). All professional educator must meet the certification standards for the position in the State where the position is located. A valid state driver’s license may be required for some positions and must be maintained when required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires normal physical activity with the work, field travel, and attendance at meetings and conferences from the duty station.
