BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The position will communicate with both parents and teachers concerning a child’s health problems
encourage parental involvement in prevention and treatment to health problems, etc. Parents must be
notified concerning emergency matters or serious health issues, and encourage to accompany the child
for appointments. Will maintain an accurate health file on each student, keep a daily log of students
including time, date, reason for coming to health office, and treatment given. Will do vision screening
and assist student in obtaining eye glasses. Will need to administer prescribed medication to student as
needed. Will attend to students’ individual needs as the students come into the nurse office. Works
closely with Indian Health Service officials in emergency and every day health problems of students
(clinic and dental care), orders supplies, send clinic referrals, and maintain immunization records up-todate.

Successful completion of a 2 year Associate Degree in practical nursing program with
license and 2 years’ experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read without strain printed material
the size of typewritten characters are required, glasses permitted. Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or
without a hearing aid, is required. In most instances, an amputation of an arm, hand, leg or foot will not disqualify
an applicant for appointment, although it may be necessary that this condition be compensated by use of
satisfactory prosthesis. In addition, applicants must have mental and emotional stability.
BASIS OF RATING: Applicants will be rated on the extent and quality of their experience and training, based on
their qualification statements, and any other required information. Salary increments will based on education
credentials and experience. Appropriate experience is credible whether gained in Federal, State, or Local
Government.
SUITABILITY & CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
A background security investigation is required. Appointment is subject to the successful completion of the security
investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
